The Rusted Rodeo

cornerofmadnessThe steampunk spectacle was at the library ALL day before the Rusted Rodeo ball. It was a fun day but long, oh so long.
I volunteered to do the Victorian Low Tea so I packed up my tea pots and went to the Athens library. I had to be there before 11 so that means an early start for me because I'm an hour away. I dragged my duster with me (20 years old and surprisingly the cotton thing is still greased up and heavy as hell) and my snake skin boots.
BUT starting last night, my ankle was playing up with nerve pain so bad I couldn't weight bear at all. I was hoping the boots would help hold it in place but halfway through I had to get my cane out of the car. I think actually the low heels were contributing to it but luckily I had the foresight to bring my other steampunk boots.
The talks and the tea went well. We had a trick rider there and his palomino Trigger was a silly horse who kept sticking his tongue out. He was sweet and let me pet him.
I also went into the library after the tea and found a manga I wanted to read but as I'm not a resident of the county I couldn't get it until my friend MKF got it for me. We talked about the impossibility of parking at the dance venue and decided to car pool.
That worked out well. She and I ran the costume registration and voting table (we're both older so why make the young ones do it. Besides we can sit down and at this point that was heaven).
Unfortunately it was also parent's day at Ohio Uni so we had less people than normal. Still the Boys of the Hoc played great music and we had a square dance caller there and everyone had fun with that. I would have liked to dance but I was alone. However, at the end at the last waltz she came up to me and said I feel bad you had to work the whole party, want to dance so we danced.
Oh and did I mention PQ makes sasparilla? OMG is that good. I've h ad way more sugar than one human needs.
MKF drove me back to my car which we left at the wal mart. We're both stripping off in the parking lot (corsets, lace jackets etc) then realized someone was just sitting in the car watching us. Enjoy the show dude.
Made the hour drive home and the night was actually pleasant and cool. got home to a phone call from ELD but I figured she wouldn't want a call back at quarter til midnight. I tossed the reeking garb on the bathroom floor and jumped in the shower only to come out to see Kanda rolling in it. Yes buddy I know I was gone over 14 hours but no one should touch those clothes
