1833 words for me on day 2 - a treat written and posted just before exchange reveals!

Today has been extremely stressful RL-wise, and all I've managed was to write comments for 2 of my exchange gifts.

Oh, woops, I haven't been giving a real word count. Well, let me see if I can figure it out.

Let's call it 3600 so far.

Oh, now I see you're doing word counts per day. Sorry for the misinterpretation! I got 2400 today. So apparatntly I'm writing much better than I'm reading. Sorry about that.

I did, oh, some 150 words on my novel-thing-in-progress.

By the way, I don't know if any other participants mind, but the way I've seen the past few months done, usually the tally of the day doesn't include the word count even if people often like to say it in their posts to give an idea of the scale they've been writing. Like if you check out how [livejournal.com profile] fan_girlishness or [livejournal.com profile] trobadora did it when they hosted. I feel it takes out some of the pressure when the word counts aren't listed together like that, just the fact of who wrote that day, since the idea of the challenge is that any writing counts, even a sentence. (And "She turned." is totally a sentence.) Like I said, I don't know if anyone else minds, and I'm just a newbie of two months myself, but thought I'd say that, especially since it's new to you as well.

hahaha yes per day. I suppose eventually I could tally the whole month. (read I don't want to bust out my math skills to add my pathetic word counts together nightly)

Okay thanks

You know what? I'll ask everyone what they want to see. I've had a couple tallying up their days together too. I honestly dont' care how people want to do it. Thanks for the suggestion.

130 words on a WIP, so yay!

Easing back into writing after being away so long and everything feels so rusty. >.> But only way to get past that is through so onwards.

I ended up spending most of my evening on the phone with a friend I hadn't talked to in a while, so there wasn't much writing time. But I still ended up with a few hundred words. Unfortunately they were spread out over four different stories - I really need to figure out what I want to focus on!

(I agree with [livejournal.com profile] auroracloud above, the word count in the tally feels a little too much like pressure to me. Like she says, the great part about this challenge - and what has made it so helpful to me - is that the only thing that counts is that I wrote something that day. If you're interested, here is an example of the tally the way we've usually been doing it.)

I scribbled in the moleskein yesterday and have yet to type it up, so no word count yet. Did add about 80 words this morning as I was editing.

My 2 cents:

I don't mind the wordcount being on the tally.

I personally find your tally way better to read than the one-line tally we used to do. (I can never find myself in it if it's all in one line.)

I did an html table tally, but I know most people hate doing that, so I wouldn't force it on anyone. I'm just a very visual person, and seeing at a glance who wrote every day was really nice.

I definitely enjoy the communication that is going on this month, and the commenting, and your great posts. This month is definitely motivating me to write! (And I know I will never get as many words as most other people.)

Day 3:
I unfortunately did not have much more time to write than I'd already gotten in the morning, it was 430 words in the end.

I still haven't had time to write today, and there's a new Lucifer ep out. Meep. I don't think I will set aside more than half an hour for writing tonight. I still have to make sure to rest and go to bed early.

Thanks for your input. What I plan to do is to just break it into two, for those who want word count and those who do not. It won't take much for me to do that.

I prefer seeing my word count but I've been at this forever and it's not the sort of thing that stresses me out. I find it more stressful to not know where I stand but I know everyone has their own way of dealing with this.

Who could write when Lucifer is on? I also told my pathophysiology class that's why they didn't get much in the way of homework today either.

That's a nice solution! Thank you! I prefer no word count, for the reasons I said and also because there are days when I do things where word counts aren't easy or don't make sense - I write by longhand, outline and plan, or write poetry (it'd be crazy to write poetry to a word count!).

Yes poetry would be tough

or like me, I'm busy editing stuff before the publisher gets irritated with me, doesn't really add to the word count but I AM writing.
