Florida must be sucking again
Sep. 6th, 2004 12:31 pmSeriously, hurricanes there suck Canadian air down to where I am (gives you new respect for the Canadians for the cool and damp they live with). It was in the 80's yesterday and suddenly it's dropped 20 degrees and is to go to 40 tonight. Sigh, last night, had the windows open and the fan on and tonight I might be putting on the furance again. Then again I could still be in Florida so I should stop bitching.
Still, the little storm this morning was interesting to watch. You can actually tell the difference between wind through the pines and birches. Birchs have a thin, papery sound but that could be me confabulating given what I know of birchs. The pines have a more whispery noise. Rain was hitting the windows which is amazing given the eaves hang over three or four feet. There were these little horizontal winds that would come up and slap the rain sideways.
Finished Connie Willis' Passage. Vamped Vixen was right. This was quite good. There were some things that were hit so hard, set up so much you were like just get it over with, you're telegraphing too much. However, for all that, when it does happen, it goes somewhere you might not have imagined. So if you like reading about Near Death Experiences (at least in a fictionalized way) this is good.
80's retro holiday weekend (4 straight days of solid 80's music) has kicked my muse into high gear. Got the bare bones for the second chapter of my novel done. Got even more ideas to continue so whee (sadly I have to put the muse in her cage and work on my lesson plan) Oh and if you do want to look at it, I freely admit, Dahlia is a fictionalized me.
