the heater's motor blew out and there's no heat in my office. Don't know when there'll be any.

My poor students. Broken bones abound. Thanks ice storm (pictures of ice to follow when I get home)

Not human but actual allergies in cats? I think the kitten is allergic to me/my apartment. This could still be a residual cold. However, I notice he's not really getting much better. BUT if I put him outside, he does a bit better.

The longer he's in my apartment, the more he wheezes and sneezes and his conjunctiva get so red and swollen it looks horrible and his eyes don't stop running. His whole face fur is matted with snot and runny eye goop.

He IS going to the vet on Friday but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Sadly if this is allergies, I can't keep him. I can't even afford my own allergy pills let alone his. I don't think it would be fair to keep him somewhere he has to stay drugged up just to live here. Thoughts?

Speaking of which, i need to go get my contacts out. MY eyes are swollen

First the question, for all the cooks on my flist, how do you prepare thin, quick-cooking beef as for a stir fry or fajita. I always manage to ruin it. I'm pretty good in the kitchen but this one stymies me.

Take tonight's sukiyaki. I started with thin cut braising beef then pounded it even flatter. Being that broken down it should have been tender as heck. I fried it only for a moment then added it to the sukiyaki. I'm beginning to think part of the problem is the Asian (and hispanic) sauces. I think that my med. rare beef parboils in a blink of an eye or something. Cook time less than 3 minutes and tonights beef the cats couldn't chew.

And now ICE STORM 2009 PICSPAM

Sorrow’s Dark Array
Author - [livejournal.com profile] cornerofmadness
Disclaimer - not mine, all characters belong to Hiromu Arakawa et al, Square Enix and funimition.
Pairing – Roy/Riza, Ed/Win (eventually) Winry/OC, mentions of Maes/Gracia and Al/OC
Rating – will vary from chapter to chapter, mostly Pg-13 but will eventually contain well marked adult chapters.
Time Line – anime based, spoilers all the way through the anime and the movie and does have strong manga elements such as Armstrong’s older sister and the land of Xing
Summary – As Roy and Riza prepare for their wedding, while dodging assassins, Ed and Al try to find their way back home.
Author’s Note #1– This was written after much prodding by [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog as a sequel to the source of sorrow and is now her holiday gift even if she has beta’ed part of it. So thanks to her and [livejournal.com profile] lyricnonsense for the beta. You do not have to read the first story to understand this. You’ll quickly pick up that Riza has retired from the military to be Roy’s wife and bodyguard. Olivia Armstrong is now president and she’s assigned Roy as the ambassador to Ishbal; oh and that Roy was severely injured in the destruction of the Gate, requiring some of Winry’s automail.
Author's Note #2 - This is a longer work and like real relationships, the ones listed in the pairings, take time to mend and come together. They have to work at it. Hope you enjoy the ride.
