It's worth the hassle to get the tassle
May. 7th, 2011 10:23 pmwords of one of our board members at today's graduation. Silly yes, but true. And I have several flisters who are graduating in the next few weeks. CONGRATS to you all.
Also Happy Birthday to
esmeralda_t it was either today or yesterday but for me, this is on time. Hope it was a good one.
So yes it was graduation day, 404 students. It only rained on the last 20 minutes of it. Our speaker actually didn't suck. He's a new board member, a former politician (campaign manager for Clinton, Biden), grew up in this area and now is running sustained energy businesses. I'd like to get him back to speak about those to my students.
After that some of us convened at B's house since she lives right there next to campus. Sophie, the lab/chow mix was very very glad to see me and ripped a few ruts in my arm jumping up to prove it. She's a sweet dog but a bit hyper. It was nice to chill in someone's house and just talk for hours. One of my friends, H, the one who beat me out for the Welsh program (she's doing welsh film since she's a film and lit prof) also has an amazing month long fellowship at the summer institute in the Berkshires studying African-America lit. She got very lucky this year. That's really super cool.
