It's Black History Month and this month Charles Dickens would have been 200 years old. I'm looking to read at least one book to honor both events. I am looking for an African-American author mostly of mysteries (or if you know any writing in fantasy/horror/sf let me know). I'll probably end up reading another Easy Rawlins story since I know my library carries Walter Mosley. I have an article with some female authors I've not heard of though I can't say the library would have them.

As for Dickens, I'm not sure yet what I'll read (probably again whatever the library has) I just know it won't be Bleak House again. I've read most of them as a kid. Have to think.

Books (you know the drill talk to me about them!)

Books: Phoenix Rising steampunk

Books: Murder on the Cliffs historical mystery

Manga: Dance in the Vampire Bund vampire manga

Manga: Black Butler #7 historical/supernatural

Books: Cross Bones m/m erotica (my story in this anthology is Ghost of Jupiter)

Manga: Hero Tales #5 action manga, end of series (illoed by Arakawa)

Manga: Blue Exorcist #2 supernatural

Manga:Soul Eater #7 supernatural/action

Books: Dark World Tru Haunting (the dude from Ghost Adventures)

Books: Death in the City of Light: The serial killer in Nazi-Occupied Paris true crime

Books: The Thirteenth Child m/m erotica urban fantasy

DVDS (look I got my money's worth out of Netflix)

Thor superhero

Iron Man 2 ditto

Green Lantern ibid

Cowboys and Aliens SF/action

Ghost Hound volume 2 disc 1 anime supernatural/psychological thriller

Unless I miss my guess was actually the head of my tenure committee. He also came to the faculty association meeting today with a unicycle (he's giving lessons). He is, not too unsurprisingly, an art prof and we all know they're crazy (ducks the artists on the list)

speaking of the FA meeting today, one prof dragged it out nearly 3 hours and frankly I almost lost my tenure bid by MURDERING him. I would have had help. My thought is I deal with him every day. You're lucky it's just once a month.

got a tiny royalty check (mostly because the pirates have my stories now so...) oh well I'll go buy a coffee with it.

Kanda was acting weird today. He's so jumpy. I finally got him to come sit with me then couldn't get rid of him.

I had a HORRIBLE reaction today to exercise. Frightening even. Since this is an 'at risk' program it's very light exercise. I went over and took my sugar before we started. I'll be also taking them intra-exercise at the break and post-exercise. 200 was the start. I was on the recumbant bike for TEN minutes at level one. i.e. NO resistence. It's barely registering I'm even pedaling it's so easy. My sugar went to 350 in 10 minutes. That is dangerously high. Any closer to 400 and I'd have to go to the hospital. This brings up a lot of concern on my part about my ability to do this. I see my endocrinologist's PA on tuesday. I'm going to show him the results (it jumped 100 points in 10 minutes on monday too). This is bad. And if I can not exercise to lose weight and get into shape my options are limited
