Sigh. It was warm enough to be sweating as I put out the Halloween decorations. That is just wrong. It's a sad little display but what hte hell. I had to wait until my landlord finished painting things before I could do anything. I'll do a picture later. There was one thing more i wanted to put up but couldn't find the tape.

My pathophysiology class isn't working as planned. Too much to cover. I'm going to have to rethink and restructure next year. Ah well.

Forgot I had a major project due tomorrow. Came home early (blew off a meeting with the club, EB will fill me in. they were only supposed to be making posters for our halloween luncheon) so I could do that.

Have a pre-nano meet up this week. Can't wait.

ETA - I forgot to mention that Russell Means died. It makes me a little sad even though I had conflicted feelings about him. I had tangential relationships with AIM through my various lovers over the years but in the 70's when the groups were much more militant there was a pall over it all, the murder of one man (Means was acquitted) and the group is still suspected all these years later for a murder of a woman. Certainly there was violence. He was at Wounded Knee in the 70's and it was appalling. The FBI cut hands off the Lakota and other Native dead for identification purposes and that is just one example. I was at the Knee when I lived out there. With it's two massacres, it was very hard to stand on that ground without being light headed (and it pissed me off to see people throwing their TRASH into the monument there).

In his later years, when I had met him, Russell was far less militant but no less dedicated to getting fair treatment for his people. Even so, even some of them considered him a showboat (not without reason). I met him on Pine Ridge but didn't have a chance to spead to him. Oddly enough, he came to Pittsburgh soon after I myself had left the Black Hills. It was a book tour for him. We got a chance to talk a little. He was impressed (or at least pretended to be) that I had been there, that I had taken the time to learn some of the culture and language (even if I spoke it like a man, but most of my patients were men (not to mention my boyfriends) so...) He thanked me in writing. I need to find where that book it. I never did end up reading it (It was a biography and I'm not big into those. I bought it because it was his). Walk in peace with your ancestors, Russell. Lila Wopila for all your work. Mitakuye Oyasin

Okay I'm getting some hysterical spam from LJ (and Facebook which is even MORE annoying since I can't seem to get them off my time line. THis one was great. A formidable share, I simply given this onto a colleague who was doing just a little evaluation on this. And he in reality purchased me breakfast as a result of I discovered it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If doable, as you grow to be experience, would you mind updating your blog with extra particulars? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this weblog submit!
Also read about the new threat to the peaceful existence. Peace or world war 3
Minus of course the link which will surely infect the crap out of my already dying computer
