cornerofmadness: (art trek)
1. I've met my deductible for my insurance. No more coming out of my HSA and it can go to my tooth...oh wait, that means I've spent 2000$ in 8 weeks so that means my average health care costs are 12,000$/year. Is that good news? No but hey I'm happy to have that met so I'm counting it. (It was also my excuse to have a glass of mead today)

2. I had a glass of mead today! I went to Arch & Eddie’s and had a cheese steak hoagie. So many craft beers. I need someone to be my driver so I can drink them up. I should just start dropping in for a beer, if not dinner.

3. I finally put up the info on [livejournal.com profile] fireun's kickstarter for the crow/raven anthology. Check it out here

4. Thanks to my Athens friends I've signed up to do the Leonard Nimoy Memorial virtual 5K I'll be walking a mile. The money goes to the COPD foundation (which COPD is what took grandma this year)Join us. Being virtual, you can do your miles anywhere.

5. After getting a notice that all the rooms were taken in San Antonio for the conference I finally got off my butt and called the Menger hotel and made MY reservations before they sent everyone to this historic beauty. (I loved the survery HAPS sent out. Wanna go to the Menger? it's HAUNTED!). So I'm set for San Antonio barring air fare

And the bad - Tomorrow's union meeting is going to tear the heart out of us. A coworker/friend's grandfather was killed in a car accident. And a student emailed me to ask if I could let her take the test another day. Her CHILD died. What do you even say to that? 2015, enough with the death.

How about a picspam?

And the mouse trap that the mouse ATE through. photo 100_3707_zpsznu1ztxb.jpg

I spoke to the landlord about it today. Even he was like 'I've never seen a mouse defeat a glue trap.' He says he'll send in an HVAC person to look to see how it's getting in. He still thinks it was in the house and went in that way. I keep telling him that if the mouse was in the apartment a) Kanda would kill it. He's good at that b) there's be poop in the kitchen. There isn't. We all know he won't actually do what he said.

However I did throw the asshole neighbor under the bus. When I was talking to LL he was struggling to get his tenant/friend with one leg into his truck because asshole had parked to block the handicapped. I told him asshole and bitchwife do this ALL the time. Every time she pulls out her car, he blocks the spot with his truck. LL said park in there now and last time I did he blocked ME in. LL was pretty upset with this and I also mentioned asshole and bitchwife are lucky I haven't called the cops/child protective services because a) I'm afraid he'll come here and I'll be forced to defend myself and b) at least I don't hear him hitting the kid (and watching CPS in action with Aunt S2's family, letting the kid have overnights with her drug dealing/thieving parents who are on house arrest for these offenses, I'm doubting they'll do dick because Dad yells and throws things).

I haven't forgotten it's music monday. Today is for the Fullmetal Alchemist crew. No, not anime music. Opera, in fact. One of the things I love about Mozart is just when you think you've heard most of his works, you run across something new to you. I was part of Musical Heritage society from the 1980s until it dissolved a few years back and bought out three times (I can't even remember the new name but the site is MUCH poorer than it used to be. You can't even listen to sound bites). Anyhow I never knew Mozart wrote an Opera called The Philosopher's Stone. Here you go. Enjoy.
