I could use some help
Oct. 1st, 2015 11:16 pmI'm trying to think of a way to motivate the students and/or get them thinking in ways other than memorize/regurgitate. I've been using superheroes in semester 2 but I'm thinking semester one needs some of that. Muscles/bones/skin are up next. Can you think of any superheroes/manga characters/SF creatures with specialized adaptations in these areas. Obviously we have Wolverine and his adamantium skeleton and the Thing with his skin. I could ask something like Bruce Banner used Gamma rays to up his muscle mass/strength. How do we do this in real life? What happens at a cellular level with exercise. So if you can think of characters, no matter how obscure that would be great. It'll give me more to work with. I'll be doing this with every system.
What does it mean when you go into Walmart to get a ball to do your hip/knee exercise and walk out with an Avenger Nerf ball? Thor, meet my inner thighs.
PT didn't go much better today. Oh well. I'm doing it but I'm not sure why I'm so blah about the lower limb stuff compared to when I did my upper limb stuff.
Even the students noticed I was off my game today. I think it's the 5 days of non-stop rain and damp chill. I like the cool weather but NOT when it's damp.
I think it's time to admit I'm watching SLeepy Hollow just because I think he's cute. Honestly I'm not even sure I saw the finale last season because i have no memory of it. Hope it's better this season or I'm done with it.
I tried to get an appt with the sports med doc. Every time I hit 1 for appointments it would tell me to put in the ext of the person i'm calling and whenever i called the operator she'd put me through to the broken system. I gave up. Called my doc for an appointment. Couldn't get one. Asked instead for a referral to the back guy I don't like in Chillicothe. Oh well, it's been years. let's see what happens now. PT is willing to say I'm working the back and the pain is getting worse. it's TIME for a MRI
