my life is a farce
Jul. 5th, 2016 11:48 pmSo I found out what happened to my health insurance and it's worse than I thought. It's also partially my fault. I read every credit card statement to be sure nothing weird is going on but I didn't do the same for the EOBs for United Health. One it's hard to read them online and two I get one for every prescription I fill so there's plenty of them.
So I called them and sure enough there is another Dana who not only has my same last name But also my same birthday. ANd somehow the hospital system in Galveston Texas was pulling MY insurance and not hers. WHy the hell they aren't using a member number and/or SS# I have no idea.
And this isn't the first time this has happened. ELD will tell you I went thru this when we lived in Florida. There was another Dana with all the same problems as me and filled her pills with Blue Cross a week before me and BC wouldn't let me do mine! It took a year to straighten out. Use the damn member number!
Jennifer couldn't tell me why the hell the hospital system in Texas was able to use my insurance but we went back to January so it's been going on for at least 6 months for well over 5K worth of charges.
It doesn't directly affect me other than it makes me look even more sickly (and a good target to drop from the insurance) The insurance is going to have a headache in getting all these fees back not to mention the doctors who might owe that money back.
The take away is look at your EOBs just as you would your credit card statements
Wal-Mart was up to it's usual horribleness. I had to take back a few things and I was one of TWENTY-FIVE people in line with ONE customer service person. The funny part was I was there in my Chewbecca in the famous Big Foot picture pose while I was reading a book on Big Foot sightings in Ohio.
