Almost done
Dec. 7th, 2016 11:54 pmMy bad tooth didn't get looked at today after all. The dental office called at 8 to tell me doc is sick. Just as well, today was busy.
I did exchange my winter dress clothes for the summer. So much of it is old. I guess depending on what I find at Macy's this break, a lot of this is just going to Planet Aid. It's all in good shape as I'm pretty fastidious with my clothing and I get years of wear out of most of it.
I had my medical records sent to the surgeon about my stomach. I'll see him a few days before Christmas.
I got two of my four classes done. I just have a couple more things to grade and this semester will be in the bag. I'm still shocked it's that late in the year already. Hell I haven't even started on holiday cards yet.
We had two holiday parties today, one thrown by the dean and there was wine. I drank liberally because mmmm sweet wine. The second was for the whole school thrown by the president. I had thought it a bad time really but came home and saw someone else say how elegant and fun it was. The truth is between our two perspectives. It WAS nice that so many turned out for it but I have to think they didn't RSVP because there wasn't enough appetizers for everyone and they ran out of everything. And we thought it would be a meal. Some people brought their spouses from an hour away and most of us got a handful of snacks and that was it. I thought that wasn't planned out well but still, it was nice to see the turnout.
I ended up grabbing a turkey sub at Subway made by a student I had just given a final grade to. Hopefully I didn't eat a lot of spit... (actually she did well but she is one of those perfectionists who didn't get an A)
This is absolutely my favorite Garth Brooks song. It's rather old now but it's point is even more important in recent days. I do like a lot of country music but I don't often like some of the antics the listeners/creators get up to. Let's face it, it's a relatively conservative genre. And this song put a huge dent in Brooks's career (if he had been female, it would have ended it, I'm sure. I mean damn, the Dixie Chicks did/said less than this song). Apparently it's not okay to support gay marriage, interracial marriage and honoring all religions, at least to a big chunk of country music fans. It was hard to find a youtube to share of it because the live stuff sounded like it had been recorded by a cell phone jammed in someone's pocket and some of the other people who shared it made vids that are very very hard to look at (including a few murders and I did NOT want to include that in a musical advent meme). There are a few rough pics in this one too but they are salient to the theme of the song.
