We didn't do much really other than finishing wrapping and cooking for tomorrow (as we do Christmas eve with my brother and SiL and we do prime rib so the oven is out of commission for that).

I did find she didn't put all the Christmas cards in one spot (sigh) and thanks to

tinhutlady for hers!

We did take Mom out to Drover's which is the wing place she wanted to go to (also I took her out to the casino buffet last night). It might have some of the best wings ever, fried crispy so they're not all fatty and gross. It's in an old drover's hostel from the early days in WV. I hadn't been there in years. I would have liked to have gone down into the tavern in the basement too but alas.

I got some work done on my lectures that desperately needed doing.

I tried to call the vet for Kanda (who has an ear infection...I'm hoping. His ear is draining, occasionally blood). But no joy. It'll have to wait til monday.

I was sad so see Carrie Fisher had a massive heart attack and am hoping she pulls through.

And since I was rushing to put something up last night before LJ died again, here have 2 days of music.

Day 22nd - Have a little Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy. I've loved this band for 20 years now (yeah I can't even). This is one of their earlier songs that someone put to a dance clip that is amazing in how athletic and wild it is. I forget the movie it is from and yes, you DO have to look past the terrible racial stereotyping of the happy servant Black person but just look at how amazing these dancers are.

Day 23 - I've become fond of Postmodern Jukebox with its rotating cast of singers and their experimentation with doing covers in various musical styles. Some work better than others but it's fun to give it a listen. Here's a few samples

My brother and his wife came for the holiday (as they go to her family on Christmas day). After some initial crap, it went well. He had his remicade for the CHron's the day before so he didn't feel well and my sugar was over 300 so I felt like hell too. DInner is at 5. They show up a noon and mom and I chorused 'you're here already?' He got pissed. We didn't care but damn if you're going to show up 6 hours early maybe a warning is in order.

I didn't like a lot of the topics of conversation (aging, selling the house, not wanting to be saddled with the parents' house and I'm honestly doing very poorly with those topics).

It was better when we played games. Dad refused to play them and went to play on the computer (If I had done that I'd never have heard the end of it).

Dinner was very good. The prime rib was primo, rib in. gnawed the bone like a caveman.

I mixed up a sangria of hard cider, pinot grigot and caramel vodka.

I got what I wanted a good camera capable of being rugged. I want to do more than a cell phone can handle so now I have a huge book to read to learn to use it.

Got lots of reading materials and R2D2 measuring cups and brain slices coasters. And more I can't remember right now.

Mass was nice too.
