Power and water
Jan. 8th, 2018 10:20 pmI'm having issues with both. Yes my power is back (huzzah). I did learn that while my electrical company does NOT update their message very often they DO update the outage map online. I notice it went from 150 outages to 12 then 2 and by the time I got home it was on. I'll have to remember that. We didn't get the snow we were meant to but lots of freezing rain. I'd rather have the damn snow.
Before I got out of here this morning, the other new owner was at my door. turns out Tom plumbed this like an idiot and they are going to replumb the whole thing. NOW. it's been good enough for 13 years without these problems but now I have to drag out everything from the utility closests, vanity and cabinet. The real problem is half the apartments are now empty for some reason (Im betting they're going to raise the rent and are looking for better renters) and with the heat down so low the pipes are bursting. This is going to be a pain in my ass especially when I can't possibly clean up the mess by then.
I didn't have to go to work today because of the weather (but I was there any how because of the power).

Day 8- In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I have two I'd like to share from the manga/anime realm.
Fullmetal Alchemist both the manga and the anime (Brotherhood much more so than the original) has an amazing canon. Oddly today I saw an article extolling both of my picks for this. There is such rich worldbuilding here and every character (even ones I didn't like) are so well developed they feel real. There is true emotion in the story telling and wonderful themes even when they're dark. I've been reading manga and watching anime for more than forty years and this to me is the best I've seen.
The other one I'd like to share is Psycho-pass, the anime more so than the manga (which takes place before the anime and just isn't as good)> At first it seems like a utopia where everyone is well adjusted mentally but as you dig into it, it's actually dystopic. A computer decides if you're mentally 'cloudy' or healthy and if you're cloudy you can be pulled away for forced counseling, mandatory commitment, potentially for life, or even killed for crimes you may commit. The cops working to solve crimes work with enforcerers who are latent criminals (i.e. mentally unhealthy enough they could commit crimes). Akane, she's a young detective, has two enforcerers who were former cops who basically were worn down by the crimes they saw and were judged to be on the verge of being criminal themselves. Another, Kagari, was pegged when he as still in single digits age wise. His character was fascinating and I wish there had been more of his story. The overarching villain plot was also fascinating because he's so mentally stable he can kill without getting 'cloudy' which means the weapons they use won't work. It's an intriguing and dark look at the near future and the way we demonize mental health issues.
