Mine has been boring. I went in my steampunk outfit. I am still working on stories for the holiday but I realized that I'm as guilty today as I was in 2004. I haven't posted ANY of my stories here in my blog, just linking out to them. Yikes.

BUT there is a difference. These days backing up is so easy. I have things on two computers and several flash drives. That said, you might see those stories popping up in here.

We did go to trivia night last night. My team won again. It was fun.

I just wish I wasn't burning the candle at both ends and nano starts tomorrow making me feel even less like I can get everything done. I've got to get in my Welsh fellowship idea in tomorrow and I need to get the sabbatical in within the next two weeks. And hell I need to start promoing my damn novel. Sigh.

I watched Legacies tonight. I could be writing this....but it also might skew too young for me. Teaching teens has made me want to watch things with them less and less so thanks for damaging me, students.

Summer finally faded into memory. Kimbley rarely cared about the passage of the seasons. One was much the same as the other for him, though admittedly he wasn’t a usual young man. What did seasons matter when he spent most of his time either in the lab or in the library? But it all would pay off now.

Kimbley didn’t care that summer ended. What mattered was the State Alchemy exams began again in the fall. He looked at his pale, slender hands. He bore small pock marks, scars that proved his learning. His alchemy had been hard earned with pain and blood but he had grown confident in his abilities. He’d blow the alchemists judging him away, quite literally if need be.

He fitted himself with the two metal cuffs bearing the symbols needed to help trigger his alchemy. He didn’t like that it would be possible to disarm him. He had ideas for a more permanent solution but for now the cuffs allowed him easy access to the transmutation circles.

Kimbley walked out into the woods behind his lab. He wasn’t any more impressed with nature than he was the seasons but it allowed him to practice in relative secrecy. It wasn’t a long hike to the hunks of limestone that ran along the edge of a drop off to a small lake below. He eyed a small boulder, touched his cuffs, the transmutation power running through him. The boulder exploded into dust.

Kimbley allowed himself a smile. He was so ready for the exams. No one could come near what he could do. Now it was merely a matter of waiting for his silver pocket watch.
