I couldn't help it. I went to get my computer today. I found a HP Envy on sale at Costco so got 800$ worth of laptop for 575. I'm not sure how good it is (I'm typing this from Mom's) because I'm waiting to hear from work to see if I can download Microsoft Office as an educator (we used to be able to do it for low cost/free).

Anyhow in emailing IT I saw many panicked student emails. Instead of telling the biology students that we simply no longer have the tracks but we still have the degree, they were sent the form letter stating their degree was gone and they might be able to graduate but they might have to find a new major. I hit the fucking roof. I sent a letter to the provost, my dean (who was already dealing with one of students who was upset), my chair, the biology coordinator and the student affairs office and asked WHY did you not send them a letter telling them that the degree was there but changed and they should contact their advisors? Why in the name of god did you tell them their degree was gone? I also pointed out you just gave them every reason to transfer to another school.

Can't wait to see how much trouble I'm in after that.

this evening we were called and told a neighbor died. My parents and I don't really know her(okay I never met her) but my aunt did. She had terminal cancer.

ETA Katonah NY just putting this here so I remember it. It's a fascinating thing I just saw at Mysteries of the Museum. in 1857 the town was to be destroyed to create a lake to send NYC fresh water but rather than let their town die they moved all 55 buildings 5 miles down stream
