That was an overreaction I think
Feb. 10th, 2021 09:44 pmThere was zero snow this morning. I got in a lab. It snowed for like 10 minutes and they sent us all home at 1. I lost two classes. Let me say no one knows why. There was no snow emergency. Maybe the more distant students were getting snow. The students seemed equally unimpressed. It didn't really start snowing until an hour after all classes would have been over. Eye roll. Even then it only snowed here about 15 minutes. At least it's snow but I think some ice was in there too. Ugh, that's the ugh.
I don't know about tomorrow but I hope there's class. I told them if there is not, then I'm lecturing here to no one, recording it and they MUST listen to it and we'll start where I left off because I can't lose the equivalent of a week (b ecause I lost last tuesday too) My Anatomy class suffers that too but I can lecture to them in lab because I don't have half the class here and the rest online like I do in nursing.
Mom always sends me Valentine's Day gifts. This year I got six HUGE caramel apples. I put them in the fridge to keep them nice. Now I can't bite into the damn thing.
I was going to talk about Pson or how the women of Buffy (Charisma especially) have come out about Whedon. (more tomorrow I think) but instead I have someone knocking in my head. She's for the menopause horror anthology. I think I should go let her shout.
<The last book I read
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger. YA/mystery/Paranormal with no love triangle, no bad/missing parents/ no doing something dumb to make the danger for the climax, you know all the things you usually see in YA. Ellie is Indigenous and asexual, she has a ghost dog. she is a delight.
What I'm Reading Now
The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin for my BLM reading prompt. It took me a bit to get into it. It's deeply weird, very much a love story for NYC (not my favorite city) but it's inventive. It has multiple POV (i.e. one for each borough) and I didn't connect with the first one but once Manhattan makes his appearance I was hooked (will say most of the characters are LGBT PoC so far which is interesting)
What I'm Reading Next Love and Fear and Legendborn are on deck.
