The Gift

[personal profile] evil_little_dog sent me this info on new tarot decks and asking what that specific deck might do for me so I gave it a try with my new Poe deck which was a holiday gift.

The questions to ask were
What can I learn from you ? - Answer Harmony, blessings, celebrations, committment and prosperity
What’s going to help with that learning? Answer happiness and celebration
What subject are you best at exploring? Answer Generosity, gifts, charity, good flow of finances, helping others.

It's interesting because a) wouldn't expect this from a Poe deck (ha) and that the last three months really has been this (and ALL my jobs have been dedicated to helping others). Today more money was donated to charity via a store (I always wonder are they really doing these donations and have to trust that they are) And there is a bonus to living rural.

The Big Lots still had tons of Christmas stuff because there's no one here to buy it. I picked up three of those gift totes filled with cookies etc at 75% off. Even if the cookies are bad (the chocolate, coffee and hot chocolate won't be) I now have festive containers and holiday mugs that I can give filled with food gifts next year (yeah I have to store it but to me this is a good thing, also me thinking of others)

I went to the coffee shop but it was too full the first time I went (so off to the library for a while) and still only found one tiny spot squashed between two other tables but it turned out interesting. I was typing. The lady (around my age I think) was doing the same. She finally asked was I writing a story.

Turns out she is a small press historical fiction author, Tonya Ulynn Brown, and 5th grade teacher from a neighboring town. We struck up a conversation. She's friended me on twitter. That was a cool thing.

I usually do my good things jar and it turns out in 2022 I only put ONE thing in there, that I got the ACUE online good teacher certification thing. Fair enough. But there was more.

My whole New England trip would count as a good thing.

I hiked Lake Alma with friends, my first hike since the injury

I got a story into an anthology (non pay flash fic but still)

Christmas with no politics, that's a win

I won nano again

Still that is pretty slim pickings but I'll be honest the 2020s have fucking sucked.

But I am trying to concentrate on that idea my deck has about happiness (and that's why I'm trying to divorce my brain right now from how angry I am about Biden and Trump and this whole storing documents in their house shit)

So let's look ahead for a chance to make a difference, however small in the world. I missed my thursday community rec so let me do it now. [community profile] fandomtrumpshate is gearing up again. I plan to participate this year again. Prodigal Son and The Owl House I think. we'll see.

And in the not so good pile I got my first rejection of the year. At least they didn't leave me hanging and I appreciate that.
