In your own space, Talk about your favorite trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

There is always this urge to say I don't really have them because it always takes some thought to bring them to mind. Of course I have tropes. And if I spend a second thinking on it they are obvious. I have a ton of tropes that I like.

First and foremost is whump and hurt/comfort. It feels strange saying that in a way. I like hurting characters. Hmmm. I don't think for a second it means anything sinister. It adds high stakes to the story and that is tantalizing. A few months back I ran across a station rerunning old shows and they had Emergency! and one of my first fannish loves, Johnny Gage. After rewatching the entire series I realized yep my favorites were the ones where Johnny is hurt (the best of which are now saved on my DVR) so this has been with me for decades.

I adore friends to lovers and found family, especially the latter. There is something so warming about people finding their own people, a family that understands them. In most of my longest lasting fandoms (and the ones I write the most for) found family is a key to it from the various Star Treks and the Buffyverse, to Fullmetal Alchemist and Prodigal Son.

And I absolutely love case fic. that might be my all time favorite of all tropes. And a lot of my fandoms are perfectly set up for that especially Prodigal Son, The X-Files and the Buffyverse

Canon divergence/What if is something I love writing. Reading it depends but it is such fun thing to explore.

I also love me some tooth meltingly sweet fluff. The world can be hard and it's fun to just settle into a warm cup of cocoa.

As for kinks, oh I have a few. Shibari (and other rope bondage techniques) is a favorite. While I do like BDSM, it tends to the lighter forms of it. I love polys and I do like violet ray wands/electrostimulation. That said I prefer my more erotic scenes to be balanced with story and plot (not that there's anything wrong with a pwp, I've certainly enjoyed and/or written my fair share)

To get this place in some semblance of order. The chaos is rather overwhelming. It would help if I could find a house that has a bit more space. Dad broke my heart a little (and in the same stroke solidified thoughts) today. He Mom and I keep our eyes on Zillow, BOGGLING at the cost of homes in this highly depressed area. they're higher than big cities. They want 200K for 30 year old double wides with a bare acre of land. It's insanity. He sent me today (the heart breaker) homes in NC beautiful ones for 170K and it's like why is my area insane? The other thought is this is proof I should just find something I can live with because I don't see me staying here after retirement. sigh.

I missed Dad's party today. He's exactly 1 month younger than Mom. It's his 80th but it's too far to go. Mom had his cousins over. Tomorrow her side of the family (all of us living outside of PA) will get together for a zoom party.

My Edgar Allan Poe inspired short story has been sent in for consideration. I think it's a fun one. Cross your fingers for me. And I reached out to my editor about the novel (because it's been nearly 2 years and I'm not sure I'm in the good graces any more)

This really threw me. I've been a fan for years and it really struck me that it's been a week before we even heard this happened. I do hope he'll be found and saved but a week in the cold...I'm not as hopeful as I could be.

kroger might want to rethink that Wild Side brand. The basil pesto shrimp and gnocchi dinner I had was inedible. The shrimp couldn't be bitten thru, the gnocchi were so overcooked they'd dissolved into mush, the squash was a watery mess and there was a half inch of water in it
