So Saturday started WAAAAAAAAAAY too early but it went off well. We only had half the judges and students as in the past. Part of it is left over from Covid and part of it is Ohio Academy of Science has picked this bizarre annoying AF new system. Instead of the traditional poster board it's all on the computer but it's a single PDF for each item. It took forever and a lot of schools tapped out.

I was paired with the other A&P prof I talk about often DM. We had several good students but man I ended up talking to the leader that day and again today because there is a huge divide in access to labs here. Three of my students were doing this at home and one is in her dad's lab doing work that DM and I CAN'T do because we don't have that high level access. It's tough to pit this experience against the one doing something in Mom's bathroom. Now the student with dad's lab DID know her stuff. It seems like they need two different categories, ones in labs ones at home (because my friend JM who is running the SE district did say that in other more prosperous areas of OH this is common for them to do this in labs. It reminds me of that commercial life equally distributes talent but not opportunity.
As it turns out as some of the students were presenting to us, the roof was being ripped off their middle school. THAT is how bad the wind was

I also learned about some weird shit at work I can't comment about openly but holy hell!

I drank 130 ounces of coffee in this and by the time I left I was a tiny bit shaky. I did get up to the book festival at the library to find...romances. Whines. I did end up buying one because of vampires and she was so engaging that I had to buy something. The other book I bought was a mystery from an author that is okay. She comes to the library from time to time with her books and remembered me, called to me from across the room. I hate that some of her mysteries are HUGE (I truly believe mysteries don't need to be 400+ pages) but I bought a big one because it was set in Kansas and I needed that for a challenge.

I ran home shaking from all the caffeine. I nearly blew off the highway multiple times. Power kept going out. Internet and phone were out most of the weekend (Phone finally came back tonight)

Today I got the cimurata I've been waiting for for weeks and it's lovely. I'm pleased. However the chain is a tad short I might need an extender otherwise it sits right on the hollow of my throat.

I'm having sugar issues today opposite of last week. I keep going low. honestly.

Music Monday...I had no idea that there was a musical for Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde and this song is amazing. Oddly today TWO different fan videos came over to me via YouTube recs. I liked this one better. It's for The Owl House and has spoilers for S3 E1 so... It's quite lovely, dealing with Hunter and Belos
