We went to the Clinton Lights tonight. It's a local thing, 10$ a card and goes to charity. It was lovely.

So to run out the year we have the publishing world going bat crap crazy. I want to talk about this a bit and then my own thoughts and hopes for the new year.

We've already spoke about Cait Corrain destroying her own debut this article even has her apology and justifications but man, I would have done anything to have what she just pissed away

This one was harassing others who use sun magic Apparently doesn't know where Superman gets his powers or Roberto 'Sunspot' de Costa for that matter (and that's me going back to the 80s) Before you start accusing people of stealing your idea better be sure it's unique and not something relatively common, you know, like solar power. She also went on a racist rant before deleting the account.

How nuts do you have to be to try to sue Tolkien's estate over copyrights to YOUR fanfic I am speechless about this so moving on

My thoughts about this, what I want to see more of is what Neil Gaiman says right here. I want to see us helping each other. There's one author who I meet up with a few times a year, Leanna Renee Hieber and she helps me every time she sees me. I will not forget that. We are not in direct competition even if we're writing the same genre. There's room at the table for us all and it's much more pleasant when we help each other.

To that end if you want to drop me YOUR self pubbed (or indie or trad) books I will promote them all over my social media and if they fit a popsugar prompt I'll drop it in the group chats.

Open Calls - I think this is the last time I'm doing these. It's low return for me and I decided unless someone really wants them I'll be saving them in a file for me to tackle or maybe just put up the ones I'm interested. I'll be keeping all the writing related articles as a feature though.
