Pomp and Circumstance

This makes the 24 graduation I've been at (some of them were my own). My gown's zipper gave up the ghost. I'm side eying it. I need to fix that or get a new gown. And yes it will be the cheap one the school gets me. Have you seen the cost of regalia? And a lot of it is wool. I nearly passed out as was and it wasn't even that hot today.

I'm also now the leader of the parade. I have the seniority. God dang, I swear I was at the end of the line just last year. Also I missed all the biomedical graduates. Yes I write while they call names (we're a small school, everyone gets their name announced) but I keep looking up. Enough to know for some reason a bunch of guys had black and white beaded leis and then I saw him, a Samoan boy (and yes it was him who brought them for his 'family' i.e. his sports team which was very sweet). I saw the young man who crossed the stage only to get mobbed by his 3 year old son and he picked him up in the sweetest teariest embrace. But I saw NONE of my students and we were onto the associate degree nurses. I look at DM sitting next to me and she was looking at me. NEITHER of us heard our students being called. Did we stroke? Did we time slip? Did we fall into Narian?

I have no answers but it as a nice graduation. After that was the post grad picnic. My tuscan bean salad was a hit. The hostess overdid the meat ...again. I wish she'd let us pay for some of this. It was a fun hang out and the comic book store owning education prof (who works remotely with the masters' students) was talking about going to the NYC comic con as a business. I'm like CS take me with you next time. I will work your table for frakking free!

Nice day all the way around. But I was too tired to go to the Night Market. If it wasn't in Chillicothe I might have gone but that's an hour drive up and an hour back so I said no since I have to go up on Tuesday too

As for the story I was writing, the one with the squonk. Yep I started it. I need to go look at word count before I get too far.
