Not only did I forget I was supposed to be at that field trip today until reminded yesterday, I got the times wrong and missed my first meeting and everyone was worried about me. I could have sworn I had one in the morning and two in the afternoon just like L but I didn't. I was mortified. Horribly. Luckily we put two of them together in outright chaos. The students loved playing with their senses and it went well. So well in fact that the administrator that came with them was so impressed with my university's science departments (bio, chemistry and environmental) that they're making a small donation. Now that is cool.

Then the dean of allied health snared me and L and wrangled us into being on the school's TV station thursday to talk about our majors. Um... okay. I.e. the deans thought this was not happening til Jan but the provost booked it and now they have no guests.

I was going to go to see Alliegance, George Takei's musical drama about the Japanese concentration camps today. I wasn't sure I was going to go really because frankly my depression is bad enough without something so dark but honestly I totally forgot it was today. I feel bad about that too.

L, TH and I went to the winery instead and they had a 'hot chocolate ale' which was 14% alcohol. I know, sounds gross to some but it was delicious I mean damn. No it wasn't hot. It did taste super sweet and like chocolate and not one hint of bitter hops. I loved it. Wished it came in a bigger glass but just as well because I'd have ended up in a ditch.

Today's music isn't rock or country or even steampunk. Day 13 of advent brings something entirely different. It's the music of Hildegard von Bingen, who I know some about but wish I knew even more (I'm just not patient with reading biographies). She was one of the most powerful women in of the 1100s. She was a Christian mystic and nun and was recently in Pope Benedict's reign (about 4 years ago) made a Doctor of the Church and for those of us not in the know about the Catholic Church's labyrnith of rules and weirdness, it means she was a serious contributor to theology. Hildegard had visions since her early days and was very much a believer of animals, plants and humans all being interconnected. She even described an energy field connecting all of us, ala the Force (She called it the Green Light or Green energy). She composed tons of music which is why I'm sharing it today. I mean how cool is it that we're still singing her music? That 1100 years after her time the church is saying she's so important we need to acknowledge and celebrate her life?

Here these are some of the art work other nuns painted as she described her visions.

In this one you can see the trinity of Father Son and Holy Spirit (plus that Force binding us together done in yellow here) photo Hildegard_von_Bingen-man_zpsezjs0ujs.jpg

And a wheel of the seasons that includes the plants and the animals photo von bingen_zpsyttjeeno.jpg

I'm going to share a full album from another favorite group of mine, Anonymous 4. In hunting this link down I see they've disbanded. Aw, but hell a 30 year run is impressive as hell, especially singing this sort of thing!

I hope you listen to at least a little of this.

that's cool music! Thank you for sharing!

That's nice about the donation.

I don't know, but for me weather changes makes my head all go for a toss. :(

You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it.

It's very nice. Even if it' s a 100 bucks, it's the ties we've made with this school that really counts.

One of my other friends said that too. I think because I'm diabetic I really worry about hardening of the arteries (which happens easily in diabetics) no one in my family has alzheimer's ever that we're aware of and most of my grandparents and their siblings (on both sides) lived into their 90s without issue so I'm not so worried about that one.
