80's retro weekend & awards

I just love 80's retro weekends. I don't want to live in the past musically all the time but little escapisms are nice. Now it just needs to STOP raining so I can spray paint the bar codes off boxes so I can start packing!!

And I won some awards The Potential Awards, which is a nice award site since it's open to all characters and ships (which I know a few of us were bemoaning all the ship specific ones and a lack of good general award sites) and there's been changes to the site. This is straight  from Ragna's LJ <i> The Potential Awards has opened up a new category for non Buffyverse fics. Right now, there are six categories in which I will accept fic: Veronica Mars, Harry Potter, CSI/CSI: Miami, Law & Order (all shows), Anime (any anime) and Other (which is a bunch of shows I didn't feel like giving their own subcategory). It doesn't matter the size but they can't be slash </i>

I won a couple RU's and a couple first places. A Boy and his Dog, a drabble set about Connor in Quor-Toth and his pet demon, won  in the drabble category.

Finding Faith, a story of Faith's time at the Cleveland Hellmouth when Spike, Angel and Connor come to visit (I'm working on a sequel) won in the action category.  

 

Silent Night, a Spike/Dawn romance set at Christmas back in my old stomping grounds, won in the holiday category  

And last but not least, Mother of Sorrows, a Dru centric piece written for the kill baby Connor challenge (Yes, there was a time I hated Connor, go imagine that)  

Aren't they pretty?

Speaking of awards... I wanted to nominate "Facing the Fear" at the Shades of Grey Awards, and I wanted to check and see if you had the revised version posted somewhere (with a link). don't worry about it. I was half afraid that WAS one of my titles and I'd forgotten it. I do that. IT's forgiven not forgotten and I'd rather wait until next round. I still have 6 chapters to redo and with the move I'll NOT have them done before the deadline but thank you.

*g* Oh, I lost my memory several years ago :) It just pops up from time to time to say hi :D And I recognized the story when I read the OC's names, plus I connected it with the Corrs' songs cause I like them *nods* I've only read a chapter or two of it I think, plus I seemed to have caught it from the tail end *sigh* it happens to me alot with fics.

Oh, and I hated baby Connor too. And I REALLY wanted to hate adult Connor too. It wasn't until he pointed that weapon at Angel and sneered "Hi Dad" that I was won over (yes, it took me that long-- a whole two seconds). And I've grown to appreciate baby Connor, now that I know what he becomes.

It's funny. Watching Angel turn into a moron with the baby made me quit watching the show. A friend saw adult Connor, knew I'd love him and she wasn't wrong

Well, I watched "Dad" and was like... "What the hell happened to Angel?". I then stopped watching for a couple of eps, then I heard Connor was taken to a hell dimension and he would be coming back as a teenager. I was like, "What the HELL?" And then I saw a picture of Vincent Kartheiser (I think it was from "Alaska") and said, "Oh GOD. Angel's getting it's own Dawn!". But for some reason, I turned in for "The Price", not knowing Connor was going to be in the end.

Then when I saw it, I jumped to my feet. And then when Connor raised that weapon and said, "Hi Dad", I sat back down and said. "I withdraw my complaints.". The rest is obsessive history (though I didn't actually start to think Connor was one sexy little twerp until the fourth season when he grew his hair out. Man, he looked GOOD)

The look has grown on me since. I was a bit slow on the uptake. When I watched "Deep Down", I was like, "Holy fuck! Why didn't I notice Connor was so hot?"

Then when I went back and watched ANW, Benediction and Tomorrow, I was kind of shaking my head going, "Dammit. I must be blind!"

And yes... Leather. Leather is... Well, leather.
