Happy Litha, la festa della erbe or whatever you care to name it. The longest day is here and how appropriate it is for me to come to my decision today.

I'm going with the first school in Ohio. Yes, I'm sure you were all dying to know. After talking for like 5 hours with my former boss yesterday (and he did an amazing amount of work for me, printing out the faculty rosters, classes taught and by whome) between the print outs and what I observed we both agree, Ohio truly wants me. WV is desperate and has to have someone. There is also potential for political nightmares at WV given the women who are already there and me being rather a strong woman too (ever notice how poorly women work together all too often), and I think that since OH has the new buildings and aren't puzzling why they're not being built (like in WV) that's a better sign. Also I think they were nicer to my boss when they talked to him than the other school was. Even though I wasn't thrilled with them at first, and liked the other place a little better surroundings wise, I think I'll do better in OH so...I'm going to live with the moth man (how could I resist his charms?. Seriously, living across the river in WV from the school is a possibility!)

On the moving front, I expect to head to PA in two days. This is causing writing problems so I'll be up front about that here for those ficathons I'm in
A) Threesome ficathon - I'm fairly sure I'll be late. I could put up the first 35 pages of it though (SHut up, I can't help it. Yes, I know only I could turn a sex story into a freaking novel)
B) IWRY ficathon God, I need to find my assignment. I had an idea for it. I WILL write it but I'm sure it'll be late.
C) Multifandom Lyric ficathon - It's started but I doubt it'll be done on time.

It sounds like you made a good decision. The OH job does sound like it would be more fulfilling for you, despite the less-than-ideal location. If I don't talk to you before your move - GOOD LUCK!

thanks I appreciate it. I think all things considered, it's the better place for me, a little more laid back and if I want to be ambitious there's a bio major there that's rather languishing. I could fix that.

Sorry I've been MIA this last week, I had things I wanted to say and advice I wanted to give, and just no time to do it.

First off, though, happy belated birthday! I'm sorry I didn't say it on time, and it sucks royally that you ended up in a holding pattern because of Stupid President Bush. :P

I'm glad you came to a decision that you seem to be happy/content with. I had a hard time, looking at your list of pro's and con's, deciding from an unbiased viewpoint which one looked to be the best deal. But it seems like your instincts are working pretty well; sometimes the option that seems least attractive on the surface is better in the long run, and it's someone smart who can figure that out. Good luck, no matter what!!

Don't worry about being late on the IWRY ficathon. I understand RL happens. (That, and I may be late on one of the ficathons I'm in at the moment, so it'd be awfully hypocritical if I got upset with you. LOL) I'll be sending out an email to everyone giving them their two-week reminder, and the email list will still include you, but at least I have a heads-up that you're going to be late.

I'm glad you were able to come to a decision you feel good about. It sounds like the right one- the last thing you need is to move to WV and then find out that they are going to hire someone else next year. You wanting to move on after a year is one thing, but it'll be nice for you to have more job security than that so you don't *have* to look for a new job if you end up loving OH.
