That I stumbled over a steampunk open call that I need to hurry my butt along to re-edit my Newport RI one and send it in. If anyone's interested, let me know.

Dad read the steampunk one I published this...with google at his finger tips apparently fact checking it. Um...

I reread a series I had started post Not Fade Away, three relatively short series that I knew had more stories to tell but new fandoms edged in. I would like to go back and finish it which is what they wanted to talk to me about when I was driving. If I do it, those stories shouldn't be too hard to do.

WHat isn't talking are the original stories that should be or any of the damn [community profile] fandom_stocking stories. Sigh. I have exactly one. Gah

My story was the spicy advent story of the day and you can find it here It's ridiculously long for what it was meant to be. It's part of the Hyperion's Son universe. It's holiday setting Buffy/Angel and Connor's first time with Dawn (though still struggling with recovery)

And thanks to [personal profile] kerk_hiraeth who is helping me find all those Open_on_Sunday drabbles. Much appreciated.

Got some holiday cards so thanks to [personal profile] spiffikins [personal profile] evil_little_dog & [personal profile] dragonydreams

Name three stories you found difficult to write.

What's your ratio of hits to kudos?
What do your fic bookmarks say about you?

What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing?
For E-rated fic, what are some things your characters keep doing?
Name three favorite characters to write.
You're applying for the fanfic writer of the year award. What five fanfics do you put in your portfolio?

What's your ratio of hits to kudos? Horrible, that's what it is. I'm not doing the math on this but for every 50 hits or so I get a single kudo. so yeah I prefer not to even look at that mess. And I hate to say it but FFN STILL nets me more comments than AO3 which somehow sad.

ETA thanks to [personal profile] enemytosleep I found where the stats actually are. So my hits to kudos ratio is 3.9%. LIke I said awful.

Re:Kudos, my theory is that people are supremely lazy and many readers like what they read, but don't bother to click it.

I'd like to see [community profile] fandom_stocking post some more stockings though? Even though I have a bunch of stuff I'm working on, it's sort of annoying that it's so far behind schedule. Oh well, life's big problems, eh?

As for AO3 stats, I recently took a peek at some of mine since I had a 6 year hiatus. There is definitely a big difference between the different fandons I have stuff posted for. Natsume Yuujinchoi by FAR has the highest hits:kudos ratio as well as the most bookmarks and comments. FMA has steady hits and decent kudos - the rest are basically in ghost towns. That said, there is a strange anomaly in the FMA stuff where a piece of chibi!Ling fanart has 4 times the number of views than any other fanfic or fanart I have posted? I'm not sure what happened with that, but it's kind of fucking funny.

So I guess it depends on the fandoms you post for? I think AO3 has a younger, newer audience than FFN so ongoing series are more popular with readers? I'm sort of a fandom geezer myself now so I'm just basing this off of my own stats. Once the [community profile] fandom_stocking collection goes live we'll really see what's up asI have a handful of Voltron drabbles going up and I feel like those will get a ton of hits since the final season just hit Netflix on December 14th.

If you go to your AO3 dashboard, there is a list of things on the left-side column. The third section down has: Inbox, Statistics, History, and Subscriptions. The Stats will let you see all of your works and sort them by hits, kudos, bookmarks, etc. If you want to torture yourself anyway LOL.

I'm now at 6 stockings done with 5 more with rough drafts in various states. I'm guessing that will be about what I finish as after xmas my free time will be much more limited. I don't write for work though so it's not the same as you having more shit to edit and write and get out for deadlines.

Hmm, do you have a lot of multichapter works? Then people can't leave multiple kudos, but I think it's a new hit when they come back for a new chapter.

Hey, it could mean your stories are so good that people reread them a lot. ;)

Or maybe they want to leave kudos, but something like this happens... https://archiveofourown.org/works/5993785/chapters/13772455
