Pimping and my holiday
Jul. 5th, 2005 09:25 amThere is one thing I wanted to pimp that I can't remember because....well, you know. First off look at the hot icon
dragonydreams let me borrow. And then have a gander at the drabbles written for me. First a Spike/Dawn by
tinpanalley and then a Connor/Faith by

Now for the weekend, we did go down to Hillbilly Cove on Lake Berlin. My uncle's new modular home has electricity and water this time so hey no flushing the toilets with a bucket. My aunt's brother was there with his two kids Marissa and Evan and his young golden retriever, Blondie, and my cousin Sherri was there with her husband Ray and their kids, Joshua and Tori and Tori (who's 12) brought a friend Chelsey. So along with my mom and dad we had a pretty full party barge. The lake was predictably crowded (though no one really had any music going which was kinda disappointing, probably has new noise ordinanaces or something).
We swam for hours. I love swimming in the lake. I just love swimming and boating. Someday I want a home on a lake as well (I like lakes even more than I like the ocean). Marrisa (6) spent a lot of time clinging to me or my mom out there in the water. She's not that confident of a swimmer.
We went back in, ate lots of barbaqued things then went out on the speed boat and Ray had his brother's jet ski so we did that too. Those are so fun but you need to cling to them like a horse with your knees and my shot knee wasn't too happy with that.
Amazingly the kids were more or less well behaved. I had to patch up Marissa's knee after she fell and Tori's friend was very nice and inquistive (I was suspecting she was going to be a prissy little bitch from the way she carried herself at first though I'm sure at school she is). The boys were boys which meant high activity and moments of pants-less-ness.
The fireworks displayed put on by the cop next door lasted from 9 to midnight with a finale that shot off 100 rounds, ten at a time. He had the showering kind and the ones that burst out like star fish and ones that made huge sparks and one that exploded and looked like a bow tie (never seen one like that before). Lots of noise. I was covered with ash. Had loads of beer and fun.
Had to share a room with Marissa who wanted to talk all night (I said, okay sure sweetie you go to bed I'll be in shortly. Yes, I did wait her out until the inevitable crash that children undergo). The next day we did more boating at which point Marissa asked if Judy was my mom and I said yes. She then asked what I did and I told her I don't have a job until August and she said then you have no money. I said, that's right. Marissa looked at my mom and said 'you have to share your money with Dana then.' Thought mom was going to laugh herself out of the boat.
We came home and had a cook out here with my grandmother (at 90 years old she couldn't get into the new modular home since the steps aren't built yet) and for once she only bitched a little. It was a pretty good weekend.
