And it's a neat idea

Here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she wears mismatched socks." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

I had such a reputation for being a 'psychic' on my campus as an undergrad that they still remember it when I came back for a job interview 15 years later and I've been asked in on a few police cases in PA, OH, NY and NJ. Sadly we never found anyone while still alive, unless you count my friends cat where I told her what drained pool he was stuck in right down to the house number

That's cool. And since I missed out on the random fact in your LJ how about this one. My grandmother was arrested by the ATF for bootlegging during Prohibition

Hmm..you're psychic? That is weird..and cool :P

Random fact about moi aka Karla - if you didn't already know that *g*

Uh..I'm Chinese Canadian, but my parents are from South Africa, that's why my last name is Leong instead of the common Leung which is common in the Hong Kong Chinese.

Erm..that's it. Oh and I'm also very very short.

Now that's interesting. How do you get from South Africa to Canada? (then again someone on my flist went from Canada to Malta...)

Very cool.

My fact: At my bat mitzvah, someone who worked at the synagogue removed my prayer book from its place next to my chair - with all of my notes and the speech I had to give - because there were too many books sitting up on the bemah. Luckily they found it, after the service, in one of the book holders.

Can you tell me something about me? Or something to prove to me? Hee. Because I think it's really awesome.

Hm..well SA is a craphole. Well I think it is, who wouldn't want to escape the Apartide? And being non-white in that country is never a good thing. Lots of stuff, getting money to a *very* close and trustworthy friend, to bring over for you, because there's a limit to how much you can take out of the country, I guess they want to keep all the South Africans at bay.

Canada, because of the freedom, diversity..I'm assuming large Asian population. I'm not sure, he's got 7 brothers and sisters, and once one of them moved down here, they all followed suit I guess.

certainly good arguments all for the move. I'm not sure that I ever thought about Canada having large Asian populations then again I don't see why not. The historic reasons are probably the same for why we have large communities here in America as well

Not sure, but Toronto and Vancouver both have large asian populations. We seem to get a lot of Hong Kong Chinese here.

Although I'm not sure when they moved here almost 30 yrs ago..that the population was that large.

It's odd because it was still "bad" when they moved then. No one can live in fear like that and be sane.

I didn't know it was missing until we started the service. I'd left it up there beforehand so that I wouldn't misplace it while waiting. I ended up not doing the speech since I hadn't bothered memorizing it. The book was found during the reception, while they were cleaning up the chappel.

Ah. Well at least not giving the speech was an option. Luckily for my confirmation they didn't really let us speak individually. From what I understand the bat mitzvah's are done singularly instead of a group, yes?

Lemme see, a random fact...I find it hard to tell my left from my right and have to stare at my hands to figure it out. When I was little I used to start the first part of crossing myself (or whatever it's called) in order to figure it out but I refuse to do that anymore so I remain bewildered.

And the psychic thing is cool. I mean, I don't believe in those television programs they do about that stuff but I do believe that some people can do that.

But it could be I guess, I don't know enough about dyslexia to know. One of my cousins has it mildly, and writing and such are a bit difficult for him sometimes but he finds reading ok now. Nope, not the last person to see Revenge of the Sith. I still haven't. I finally just went to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at the St. John's microbrewery Theatre pub. An building built for the 1905 World's Fair in Seattle, and floated down the Willamette River to Portland, Oregon.

I watched the movie while dining on West African Peanut soup, and the Brewer's Salad, mixed Greens with crumbles of Blue Cheese, red onion, mixed greens all sprinkled with a healthy dose of Oregon hazelnuts and raspberry vinagrette made with Rubyred Ale. This was washed down with a couple of pitchurs of Terminator stout.

I did not care for the movie but didn't really care. That is why I prefer to wait until shows arrive at the theatre pub. I'll get to the Revenge one of these fine days.

This response is by way of an response to both this post and 'Finally got to see it'. I think this is a pleasant thing for you to think of when you see my posts.

Hmmm, butting into this thread--I have the same problem with left and right but have always put it down to being somewhat ambidextrous. My school made a big thing of lefties using all left handed stuff so I lost the ambidextrousness (new word?) I had as a child because they decided I was left handed.

I do have a few things like wrting q when I mean p and vice versa. I'll do it over and over even after it has been pointed out.

Don't know if that is dyselxia but it is interesting to find people who have similar problems. I'M NOT ALONE!

we had a theatre pub like that in FL but it wasn't smoke free which usually isn't a problem for me but the ventilation sucked so the food tasted bad

i do the same thing with ALL the stick letters q,p,b,d. I write them interchangably. I was ambidextrous as well as a child but was beaten by first and second grade teachers across the hand until I used my right only

From: [identity profile] myfeetshowit.livejournal.com
Gah! I was lucky. My school was much kinder in its methods. They were trying to do what was right for those who were different. I wasn't allowed to sit at 'right' handed desks and could only used the equipment designed for lefties. Maybe that is why I only had the problem with my 'p's and 'q's.

I'm lucky too, because at least with my particular problem I can joke around about that.

Ya do have to take your pleasures where you can!

Almost all public buildings in Portland are smoke-free now. We have a chain called McMenamin's that has gone throughout Oregon and Washington buying up old (for Oregon) buildings and turning them into these theatre pubs where they sell their own microbrewery beer, wine and now hard liquor as well.

The movies are only $3.00 but with the food and booze, the two of us ended up spending $50.00. Not a hideously expensive evening here but not something you do regularly.

Hence, I usually only see 3-4 movies a year.
