Ireland Day Four

I spent today watching tutorials for that online class I have to set up and working on lectures. I AM SO BORED. Someone send me something fun to look at. Today's is a short post as we didn't do much.

Ireland Day four

Today we were heading to the harbor to catch a ferry to Wales. But first we were going to the last site in Bru na Boinne, the Dowth passage grave. However right next door was a ruined church from the 1400s and another chapel just slightly newer probably Renn period next to a Victorian manor home (privately owned). Weirdly enough the graveyard to the old church served two purposes. One, it’s the memorial of the poet John Boyle O’Reilly and two, it’s still an active burial site. The home was one of the Netterville Institute homes for widows and orphans but recently sold for millions.

Dowth has a strange legend, something about a king who would remain king so long as the sun was in the sky so his sister, a witch froze the sun in the sky to insure his rule. However, they slept together and sent the land into darkness and that’s why this is called Dowth, which means darkness. This passage grave is unexplored in the modern era (but had its top blown off in the Victorian area by looters). You can’t get into it but there is one curb stone with three suns on it and the entrance stone has a nice spiral.

We drove into Balbriggan to see the harbor. Mistake. Ratty AF so we turned about and headed for the port. And oh, we did stop off at the battle of Boyne area briefly as a potty break. Note don’t let ELD take Dramamine. She slept 90% of the three-hour trip and was in bed before 10 tonight. It’s too hot to sleep for me. Been functioning on about 3-4 hours sleep since I got here.

Also is anyone able to take a quick look at an Angel/Fullmetal Alchemist crossover for intoabar not quite done but it should be around 1600 words give or take a few hundred.

ETA - color me shocked, I nearly doubled the intoabar story and it topped out at 2400

Now that I'm not on my phone I'm checking the pics and yup, it all looks like fake greenery. That legend about Dowth is possible going to get stolen for fanfic in the future.

hahahaha trust me it was all real but funny you should mention fake greenery. A few of the graves had astroturf over them and I'm like well that's one way to keep down on maintenance.
