Today was the tea duel at the Nelsonville Library and then the steampunk train ride. I had to wake up early because it's like 60 miles to Nelsonville. I get there to learn the train ride was canceled and all in all I'm not that unhappy because it's like 90 out there and I'm in all that garb.

The library had a dozen reservations for the high tea and mini tea lesson that we were planning to crash because the librarian had stolen the map to the center of the earth (which will be our theme at the Athens library next week but I'm probably not going) The tifin who moderates the duel couldn't be there. I was already going to be the back up tifin and since I'm about the only one not nervous about public speaking, I got to do it all.

Sadly almost no one showed up but those who did did have fun with it and almost everyone joined in the dueling. It was a fun early afternoon and then everyone went home and changed and we all met back up at the Mothman Festival.

Unlike last year when Evil Little Dog joined me, this year was fun. (Last year was an overly hot, overly crowded short tempered misery). I didn't hang with the other all that much because it was their first time and they wanted to do things I'd done a dozen times. I hit the vendors, spent money like a drunken sailor and sat in on two lectures. The first one was on Big foot which I wasn't that excited about (left for coffee and came back because the State Theater is ancient and a/c-less and hotter than hell when packed.

But what excited me was Greg and Dana Newkirk's talk which I would have missed had the train ride had gone off. Their name was familiar but I wasn't sure why. Turns out they curate the the traveling museum of the occult. I've seen them on Mysteries of the Museum and Kindred Spirits. Might have found a group to support on Patreon…. I wish I had had time to talk to them.

I did pick up two books, one on a haunted asylum in WV (not trans Allegheny) and one on West Virginia haunts from the wife of one of the steampunk fellows. I like her stuff. Most of my expenses at the fest was food, a brisket street taco from Bear WIllow BBQ, Noodles from Island Noodle, a coffee and a frozen lemonade to go home on.

It was a good day and now I'm exhausted, omg.
