writerly ways
Dec. 15th, 2019 08:51 pmI have no real writerly in me at the moment. Instead I can tell you what I'd love to see excised from anime/manga. Yes, I know a great deal of it is written for teenaged boys but in a way that is even MORE disturbing. Too much of shonen anime/manga highly sexualizes the female characters. Fullmetal Alchemist avoided that, if you ignore Winry's tube-top and women do wear those so that's not so bad. At least her boobs didn't bounce every time we saw her.
Two I'm watching on Cartoon Network now on the other hand...
My Hero Academia which I do actually greatly enjoy is guilty of this. At school, the uniforms are fine but then we have their hero costumes... Bubble Girl (oh god that name) literally goes into battle in a half shirt with her breasts hanging out from nipple down (Now how they don't just flop out...I guess she is like 20 so not drooping yet). We have any number of equally sexualized outfits for the other girls and naturally not so the guys.
Fire Force, which isn't a bad story, plot wise, but has two women fire fighters, that look so similar it took a second to realize they weren't the same woman. One of them inevitably ends up embedding the protagonist into her breasts. Once I could handle it. It happens every episode and/or she falls out of her clothes, I mean long segments where her clothing magically comes off her body. I'm like great. How do I keep watching this when this is happening.
Sigh.
Anyhow if you're looking for a writing community to help you keep on track in 2020 you can try
getyourwordsout (It is deleting it's LiveJournal verison in 2020) I prefer to use the habit pledge over the word count because it's NOT all about word count. A good writing habit is more important. Also if I'm in editing stages I'm not adding words but I AM working on the craft so I can count them. They do have a lot of links and other things to engage you as well.
I've made a few sad attempts to decorate. Here they are
long view of the shaky shack
close up of the rail. I plan to put these with the greenery next year
I rather like this thing. ANd yes they Still haven't finished my door all these years later
and have some links
