my sofa is toast. Even if it wasn't none of us can carry it and my apartment is so rural that I can't hire help. My back is in a total spasm from hauling that hot water tank yesterday (all of my uncles are yelling at my dad for making me move it). Anyhow, JcPenny's has them and delivers in my new area (and not much else does). You'd know the couches I really want are EXTRA shipping and handling but there are three that are actually free. Let's see what you all think of these

The Dillon - It looks comfortable but does anyone else think chenille would fall to pieces before the year is out? I'd go for blue

The Capri - I like the red but I suspect the boxy low arms will be uncomfortable

The Carlisle - Even uglier in person than online. Roomful Express had it. It's comfortable but I swear I'd slipcover the bastard immediately.

And NO JcPenny's in my area HAS furniture any more so I can try them out (I'm not thrilled to buy something I can't even try out first). I have to go all the way across town some 30-40 miles to get to Century Three Mall and try them out. Don't think so.

The Dillon looks comfy (mmm... chenille) but I don't know how long it would last. My vote is for the Capri. I like the lines of that one. :)

I'm leaning toward the Capri myself. I'm just worried about comfort. I never actually SIT on a couch. I always lie on them with my back on the arms.

But if I have a red couch I can get those red and gold brodello curtains that I like so much (Never let Italians decorate, things always end up looking like a whore house)

Duh... The Dillon, of course.

and The Capri? Low arms could be great with just a small pillow when you're trying to take the traditional "I'm not gonna sleep; I'm just gonna close my eyes while this program plays..."

the Carlisle: your flist will stalk you down, surround your house, remove said couch and torch it. (No pressure; none at all.)

The Dillon looks the most comfortable. I like to lie across the couch so the low arms of the capri scare me.

Yeah the Carlisle...that is just fugly.

I vote for the Dillon. Looks the most comfy to me.
The Carlisle...hmmm. Looks like something out of a bad Regency movie.

Agreed, the Dillon looks the most comfy. The capri is the most stylish and that last one...brrr

Ah...wish I could have a couch. But it wouldn't fit down the hall or I'd have to have the entire window pane removed to get it in. So whenever I can afford to replace the old one, it will be futon city for me.

I like the capri. It looks like it'd be comfortable, and well... being an artist, I'd kill for a red couch. :)

No worries... If I had the means, my house would be decorated in a morroccan style, complete with platform bed & gauzy crap. Which would just be more of a harem style. :)

See, I could go for that too

It does make a statement. These things are all under 400$ which is well freaking cheap. Most couches I was looking at were over 1000$ (that's the reason I usually haul mine around. Dad's always like WHY don't you just give the furniture away and buy new? Because Dad to replace JUST the couch and bed that's over 2000$ which is well over the cost of moving everything I own)

The best part is I HAVE a futon. I'll be damned if I'm sitting on that thing if I don't have to. My back's in bad enough shape. Luckily all three of the places I looked at down there were easy access for a couch (though it might end up a love seat. I have to get the room dimensions to be sure a couch isn't too big)

I know. it's down to style vs comfort

Tell me about it. I'm using a couch & loveseat that are not even second-hand, but third hand. They're falling apart, but I can't afford to replace them.

The Dillion is similar in style to the couch I bought. I like high armrests that you can lean against. Although I tend to be wary of fabrics of Chenille. Stylewise I like it the best though.

grandma gave me the money or I WOULD be sitting on that horrible broken down futon. If you have a St. Vincent's De Paul in the area you can usually pick one up for under 100$ there. It's a matter of how the hell do you get it home

I think it would be the most comfortable. And at under 400$ I'm not expecting ANY of them to last long but I'm afraid the Chenille would start to fall apart almost immediately

Don't forget the door's dimensions.

Cautionary tale: Daughter and Novio have neighbors whose Gigunda TV has been sitting in the hallway for a month b/c they can't get it up the stairs and into the door of their apartment. Everyone has to walk around this huge 2001-type black behemoth of a box. And, of course: no TV --- but they do have cable! (duh....)

I will I might even get something different. There are a few others that only have 50$ shipping so that's not too much

yeah I know. It would help if the twits at the complex KNEW the dimensions of their buildings. I measured all the windows and forgot the door
