cornerofmadnessSo I woke up to no internet again (Frontier was outside working so they had it off I assume). I trundled to work to do my mid-terms. I'm there for HOURS and I still have homework to put in when they email us and said 'we're not doing mid-term grades.' WTAF?
I said fuck it and came home. But I had already emailed them earlier about another email praising a faculty member for moving their face-to-face class to online and I'm like WAIT I ASKED about that and you said NO. 'We're meeting about that today.'
In the meantime some committee I'm on was insisting we look over all these student research projects for presentation. I'm thinking this isn't going to happen. I'm not wasting however many seconds it would take to download 20 of these. They're all good with me.
Finally at 630 we get the meeting email about work. Now they want us to have one big test basically pass/fail at the end of it all. I'm like um....what? Can I counter offer? Three more smaller tests online, like this was a work at your own pace online class? I've already asked the students to find out who does not have a home computer/internet (which is a huge concern here). Maybe give those students an incomplete. I don't know. It was too late in the day for cogent thought after a day of grading. I'll deal tomorrow.
And then my professional conference in Ottawa over Memorial Day is now canceled. I'll call the hotel tomorrow.
Haven't written yet today. Yikes and it's pouring AND my furnace is acting up again. It tries to kick on (even though it's at temp) and immediately kicks off but if I turn up the temp it works fine. I have no clue...

fic_rush which is a low pressure writing challenge that looks like it could be fun.
ETA Oh so it's not my newly repaired furnace fritzing out. I kept hearing a motor turning off and on but couldn't figure out why it would be doing that. Not until the tv was off could I hear the gurgle of water. It's the new sump pump...right under my bed. this should be a fun night.
