I don't know what else to do so I sent some money to organizations out there to help. It's not enough but it's all I have. If I had known there were protests in Athens today I would have gone. I did not. Tomorrow I have to meet with students and can't go then. Sigh.

The stress has sent my sugar into the stratosphere. I'm watching people I've known for years be dismissive or outrightly racists. I am so done. I'm waiting for a new friend to contact me because she needs to talk (she's west coast) about all this. I worry about her and all my friends of color (especially the ones with young sons) This article is painful but true here.


Nothing got cleaned. I can't function.

Some said LJ was allowing crossposting. Mine still isn't and I keep forgetting about it.

I remember reading a discussion about the cross-posting and it appears to have to do with what e-mail provider you use, as some are still blocking DW. G-mail is working fine. *knock on wood*

I hear you about idiot relatives. I think that me and my niece are the only liberals. Most disappointing for me is a sister who used to be liberal and vocal about it to conservative because of her husband. It makes me sad and angry that she's changed her beliefs because of his.

I hear you and I'm seeing that with my parents. They were democrats. Now with prejudice girl and her husband as their friends (dad and mom were besties with girl's parents) they're like them, getting more paranoid and conservative as we go. I hate going home for christmas now because Girl is invited to everything and I hate her

I've been donating, and sending emails to my mayor and city council member about police reform. Not that I think it'll do any good with the council member; he's one of this shittiest of the Republican shitheads running my state. But it's better than nothing.

We do what we can. And I'm sitting here looking at the WV gov since I'm a heart's beat away from there going did you seriously just 'in jest' say any former president but Obama is welcome there? Fuck.

I'm starting to hate going to that sister's house for family functions, especially when her hubby's family is also invited. I am surrounded by conservatives and it gives me the willies.
