to tell me that they were now doing curbside and what books should they get for me. I'm like ….okay you cold called me with this, and I DO appreciate that, but then you expect me to have a list of books I want memorized? Sorry I don't and I'll be going home soon so not likely to use this. Ah well. I'm actually rather amused by this.

I ran to work, checked my pathogens (sadly the two we needed the most didn't make it), was going to go look at this really nice house but my GPS couldn't find it and I said I wasn't in the mood to go looking (I know the road it's on) came home and found an article on the Chronicle of Higher Ed that basically said pretty soon most small universities will be gone or cut the bone. Part of this has been in the works. Part of this is covid related. we're looking at over 20% drop in enrollment country wide. A lot of students want nothing to do with online. A lot of people don't even want to go to school any more. If this happens, I do not know what I'll do. This is already plan B. I don't have a plan C. sigh.

I'm coming out of a bad sugar event. It was low enough to go into a coma. Sigh.

I learned that I have lost the last chapters of my 2018 nano novel. I'm glad that's ALL I lost. I wonder if I printed it. I'm going to look around. I did find out just how badly Geek Squad and Best Buy lied to me (no surprise) insisting that my computer back up was SO big I needed this huge and expensive flashdrive to back it up. I just found that and put it in to look for that novel. Guess what, they didn't even back up more than I have on my every day flash drive. Fuckers.

Since I wanted something other pure misery at least once this week I'm back to borrowing this meme from [personal profile] spikedluv

What I Just Finished Reading: The Finders by Jeffrey B. Burton. It was a mystery and it's misleading as it's labeled the K-9 mystery series. It's about cadaver dogs but they are not on the force. I didn't like some of what they did with the dogs (the main dog goes all attack dog several times) . The mystery wasn't bad, I either got this from netgalley or goodreads

What I am Currently Reading: Silvered by Tanya Huff and Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie. I've just started Bonds, no opinion yet. Silvered is...it's good, strong women but I've been reading it for a month. Part of it is I can no longer easily see the print and readers give me headaches. The other part of it is I'm SO over every fantasy being about war. It's one of the reasons I backed off SF for years because everything was military SF. I would love a fantasy story that isn't about war.

What I Plan to Read Next: something for the popsugar challenge I'm sure.

One of the Prodigal Son fans I follow in twitter is a teacher and is now doing complex analysis of music and storyline of all the episodes here. is the pilot.

And in other good news, I did finish the draft for [community profile] intoabar go me.

I saw a post on tumblr a little while ago where people were recommending fantasy without war themes. If I stumble across it again I'll post it.

It would've been better if they'd phrased the purpose of their call differently - we're doing curbside service now, so let us know if there are any books you'd like. This makes it sound like they expected everyone to be making a list of books to borrow as soon as the libraries opened again.

I frelling hate Best Buy's Geek Squad and I will never purchase another service plan from them. They don't really know shit (Best Buy won't pay out for actually good computer specialists, I'm sure) and they lie like a rug (company policy also, I'm sure). I took my laptop (first one I had; I'm on my third now, so a while ago) in 3 times over one summer to have the motherboard replaced. I can't recall what happened the first time, but the second time my computer guy took it apart and saw that they'd been careless and broke some wires, which violates the service agreement). This time they lied and told me it was the monitor because of their '3 times = replaced' policy. But I couldn't tell them that I knew they were lying because of the whole 'violates service agreement' thing.

Yay for finishing the draft!

Ooh! Cool idea to take a specific bar - it's almost like you're making the bar the third character. :D
