I was broken to learn Ruth Bader Ginsburg died and infuriated Bitch McConnell was already out there saying Trump's pick should be installed immediately. After he obstructed Obama who was in the same near election situation. I have never wished bad things on people as much as I do him and Trump and that is SUCH an ugly feeling. I don't want it in my head but I can't dislodge it.

It certainly dampened my enthusiasm for my zoom tonight but I went (I still need to go donate) Geoffrey Blake is apparently doing zoom workshops for young actors. I turned up for Lou Diamond Phillips of course and it was fun but I bailed after an hour and a half (and learned from a friend who attended it went to at least 10 pm when Lou left along with Dermott Mulroney who also showed up. So it was entertaining and I'm glad I went. However, in spite of selecting NO camera, there was camera. I had no option to turn it off. Glad I at least planned for that.

I'm going to off and be sad

Garland was not either in the same near-election situation. Scalia died in February, not September. Garland was nominated in March. the longest between nomination and confirmation in the history of the Court was Justice Brandeis in 1916 and that was only 125 days; 126 days from Garland's nomination was July.

the most recent time it took fewer than 46 days between nomination and confirmation was Justice O'Connor in 1981. and it is 46 days till the election.

and yet they stalled the fuck out of replacing Scalia and will speed-run replacing Ginsburg.

I am also sadden by Ginsburg's passing. Is it any surprise that Moscow Mitch has one rule for his party and another for Democrats? It's sickening. I am not saying Canadian politics aren't shady but at least in Canada we do still have political parties largely working together on most things. It hurts my mind to think of what is happening in the US and how these wounds to the political system are going to take years to heal.

I'm both sad and livid at the same time. It's draining.
