No one needed that level of Mud

It might not have rained much here but 8 miles down the road it had to have had a deluge. There was SO MUCH DAMN MUD. I pretty much ruined my shoes and the cane is coated. It soaked through my socks and I had to wash my feet.

Overall I had a good time. Masks worn: could count on my fingers and there were several hundred people there. Whee.

Sadly they've been downsizing vendors for a while to add in other things which is okay but we lost the good fudge maker and the good salsa/pickle maker but retained the two that make products that are meh. I did buy a lot of things, 98% food since all my favorite vendors weren't there, no jewelers except on that was too pricey (and I hate to say it but I really liked the silverware jewelry that wasn't there) the alpaca weaver and the jerky person weren't there either

I did get a piece of glass for mom's birthday and coffee and tea. I like Silver Bridge coffee a lot. I got some whipped maple sugar cream (no I shouldn't eat it but it's once a year)

Overall it was a fun time but still a little on the disappointing side vendor wise. It was the 50th anniversary so I'm glad I went.


And since I was asked to review the cheeses


Whole Food - Bur's Burrata - if you don't know what it is it's a thin shell of fresh mozzarella filled with a near-cream soft cheese. It was creamy it was good (I made prosciutto wrapped peaches to eat with it) but it's a one and done thing so it is quite expensive for that

Red Dragon - it's a cheddar with mustard seeds and ale and it was worth the price

Drunken Goat - I remember liking this, it's a semi-soft goat but this one was good but not great, had nice funk but very little alcohol flavor


Trader Joes - TJ's cave aged blue - this is good stuff, one of my go tos salty, pungent, it's a really good blue

TJ's chevre with honey, is a fantastic soft goat cheese. It's sweet, it's spreadable, it's got some funk, love this stuff

ST Andrew's triple cream brie is another of my go to cheeses. If you let it sit out like you should any brie, this gets SO soft and is so mild it's almost like cream or butter without the grease. It's worth the price if you like a good brie. This has no funk.

This seems to happen all the time. We don't have a lot of fairs etc. like what I read with my U.S. flisties, but Siljan and I love to go to Medieval fairs, and the rare Highland Games event we have in our vicinity. So far nothing has taken place again yet, but already before Corona we observed this over and over again: beloved and good quality vendors stopped coming and weren't replaced at all, or by others with the same product/theme but much lower quality.

Yeah it's sad really. My local renn fest did not formerly allow pre-made cheap stuff, crafters only now they do and it's so meh
