will be tomorrow. I'm done in. That heat did me worse than I thought. I was pretty crappy all morning and then I put in grades ALL day. It's done and now to start with the incredible amount of paperwork and prep for next fall.

I don't have the brain power for any writing thoughts.

So I will talk about those cancellations. Honestly Magnum PI doesn't upset me much. It had four years. Legends of Tomorrow same. Batwoman I had already given up on but when you sit back and really look at the pattern it's depressing. After the Warner Brothers/Discovery merger they announced the ending of ALL scripted tv on TNT and TBS. I don't know if Snowpiercer will be exempt or move to maybe their streaming service.

I've been expecting something like this ever since the last contract for TBBT was announced and Sheldon/Leonard/Penny were all getting a million an episode. Scripted tv is getting so expensive that no one wants to bother with it so they just keep slapping together reality shows (and by that they're including true crime/cooking shows/documentaries). It makes sense from a budget stand point. Regardless of what Guy Fieri and the judges make for an appearance on Guys Grocery Games it's not going to come near chucking a million an episode down a hole or even a more modest salary (I read once most of them average between 1-200,000 an episode on scripted TV)

Making it worse, streaming tv has no ads so who the hell is paying for that? That's half of Netflix's current woes.

But I think a lot of us don't want nothing but reality shows. Most of us aren't going to write fanfic for Dr. Pimple Popper. We're not buying merch for Evil Lives Here. And yet we're here watching an art form fail. Fox has some 20 hours of tv to fill but isn't really considering much in the way of scripted tv if the articles are to be believed. I can't even imagine what will b e on TNT and TBS now. And with 48 hours to go FOx has NOT renewed the resident, or either 911 so who knows.

I find it all depressing. I live in the middle of no where, too rural to stream. TV is expensive but if it's my only entertainment it's not so bad. But I'm not going to be paying for it if it's nothing but reality shows.

Sigh. Okay I need to go out and look for the eclipse without making Rocket run in and out 1001 times.

It has felt like there has been less and less scripted tv to choose from here lately. Also everything is so scattered across streaming services it is difficult to keep up with what people are watching.

I saw that FOX had cancelled A LOT of shows. I'm worried about my 9-1-1s if they really want to go all-reality. o_O

After reading your post I had the thought that they were waiting until the finale aired to cancel it. And after seeing the 9-1-1 finale, I'm even more worried, as it could just as easily be a series finale as a season finale.

*goes to look*

Whew! Thankfully I was wrong, both 9-1-1s have been renewed!

I'm gonna have to agree that no everyone (or most people) want to watch nothing but reality shows. I in fact don't want to watch ANY reality shows. They all pretty much suck.

As far as advertising, I'm really not that against a limited amount of advertising even on services I pay for. For example, advertising specifically targeted to my interests, and and maybe have 1-3 30 second ads at the BEGINNING of what I'm about to watch, with no interruptions in an episode, and maybe if I'm watching a movie, have an 1-3 30 spots in the middle. I mean I already intentionally let the ads run on YouTube channels from content creators I enjoy. I WANT them to make money so they can continue to create content for me to enjoy. What I don't like is when I'm watching something with ads and there are literally 5 or 6 ad breaks in a 30 minute show.
