You're like a little kid
Jul. 18th, 2023 10:41 pmso says mom just because I walked into Costco and started crying I want him I want him I want him! I mean
LOOK at this magnificent beast
250$, 10 feet tall, he needs to be mine. Joanne's Fabrics had a 10 foot skeleton that didn't move for 500$ (and already sold out of the first round). The ONLY thing stopping me is where would I store him? In my rat infested storage unit? Sigh. I want him.
So yeah mom and I were out and about. After looking at fabrics/victorian patterns at Joanne's it sinks in it would cost me nearly the same to BUY it from this seller on ETSY I've been eyeballing and embellish it and/or make the crinoline. Hell I'm not even sure how this artist is making money giving the cost of fabric. The one she makes I really want is sadly taffeta and that's a hard pass for me.
32 photos from the James Webb telescope gorgeous, loved it
So I don't have a lot of fannish enthusiasm tonight but I do have something to talk about because it keeps me from spiraling which is what my brain is trying tonight.
As you know The Owl House is my latest fannish obsession. I got these this week.

Adagio tea (very nice online tea source) has blends where you can make fannish blends. I have long wanted to do that. It first occurred to me with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fullmetal Alchemist but both had plenty of teas already and I didn't know exactly how it was done anyhow and since there were so many blends on offer I didn't pursue learning how.
Then I got into (and still am naturally) Prodigal Son and there weren't any. I did start looking into it but then my accident happened and you know the battle to get back on my feet. I never got to find out would I need to buy samples of everything I wanted to blend and do this by trial and error or what.
So there are a couple The Owl House blends and I got mine from here As you can see in the pic I have Amity/Luz and I was wanting Hunter/Willow for reasons but Willow is mixed with chamomile and that's the problem with these fannish blends.
So many of them end up blending chamomile, rooibos, and other herbals. I don't like them but more importantly chamomile and other herbals CAN interact with medications like those for depression and blood thinners. Chamomile is a blood thinner problem. I can't have it (sorry Willow) While I could surely test a sample without much harm why bother? I can't have it in the long run and the samples aren't cheap.
Maybe I shall look into this further. Maybe you have limits on what you can blend (wouldn't surprise me because some teas are pricier than others) I would like to play with this. That said, I have only had time to try Luz and Hunter. Luz's is okay, the blueberry is a bit faint so it's mostly lemon. Hunter does taste a bit like a cinnamon roll and that's fitting because he is one. I want to try the others from this seller.
As for The Owl House I've been at it about 14 months now and there are 38 stories right here I only wrote a few last year because I'd only seen S1. Once I got S2 (and then 3) it took off. Enjoy.

Date: 2023-07-19 03:55 am (UTC)The cost is based on which of those things you choose (more expensive stuff, more expensive blend), but there's a fairly decent range.
I'm also in the camp of people who can't drink chamomile because of ragweed allergies and they make me react often enough I shouldn't push it.

Date: 2023-07-19 04:34 am (UTC)I can tell you from experience I have reacted to chamomile with my ragweed allergies. So even before the blood thinners I wouldn't drink it (and it is in almost every herbal I run across regardless who's making it)

Date: 2023-07-19 12:33 pm (UTC)I like Adagio tea too! Someone made a unique blend for one of our friends' (who does the monthly subscription) wedding gift. Hope that you can make a tea that works out for you!

Date: 2023-07-19 04:44 pm (UTC)I also adore your Flapjack and Waffles plushies! I've had my eye on this keychain from Etsy but I've been saving up for big purchases like a responsible adult >.

Date: 2023-07-20 02:45 am (UTC)I knew St John's wort was a huge no with cold medicine so I looked it up and that led me to looking up all the herbs and I'm like wow....so no herbals for me. (Now I have a good excuse. I don't like them anyhow)
Thanks I came up out of Carlsbad Caverns into their gift shop (natch) and there they were. They're technically nat'l park life birds I think but I'm like Waffles and Flap. Had to buy them. They even have bird sound devices in them.
I like the keychain. I'm either eyeing this up or I have already bought it (I'm waiting on this seller for something)
but they're cute

Date: 2023-07-20 11:41 am (UTC)I love those teas! Well, teas from that place.
Can you ask the girl if she can make it out of something other than taffata? I've had the experience that I can request and special order things (for no more money than a regular order).

Yeah, the artist ships from Spain, so even once I have enough for a Flappy, it'll take forever to get here :sob:

Date: 2023-07-21 03:38 am (UTC)They're so cute. If they had a crow/raven I'd have bought that too (as they're a favorite bird)
yeah I always forget to look at that and something I bought was shipping from Israel and I'm like oh boy. I did order those charms because I just got the shipping notice (and Belos-Possessed Hunter too because I make good choices)

Date: 2023-07-21 03:41 am (UTC)Adagio does have good teas
I actually planned to do that. I mean all she can say is no and I'd buy the other one from her. I know I can make the crinoline no problem. I could make an overskirt too to snazz up plainer ones. I like that she has her measurements there so I know in inches what the sizes are, none of this guessing is this 2X a real 2x or will it fit someone 110 pounds

Date: 2023-07-21 12:31 pm (UTC)I love ravens and crows too! They're so smart!
I don't mind if things take a while to ship if I'm just ordering them for myself, but it does become kind of nervewracking around Christmas lol.

Yeah I hear that.
