While I'm not fond of the word 'force' here, the rest of this really makes me happy. In a way, that's what the whole WED community is about. And on those days we just get an alibi sentence or two that is still great because words add up. We owe it to ourselves to be gentle with ourselves when we're not as productive as we hoped (I'm bad at this) so here's a little reminder that some days will be short on wordage and others will be amazing and both are to be celebrated.

That quote is very beautiful and fitting, and I'm totally with you on your take on it. It's much the same for me, and I'm grateful that I did learn to be a bit gentler with myself in that regard.
You know I started with my Nostalgia Project last summer, and while I haven't been productive with anything to read for others - nearly no fanworks published, and although I'm working on original novel projects not a lot of this is happening.
But what I did rediscover - or perhaps just discover properly for the first time - is just enjoying my writing, my characters, my story ideas, and the absence of any pressure to get this finished, get this right according to this or that standard, meet a deadline, fill plotholes. Just writing for the fun and joy of it, and having mostly a great time (of course, not all days are good writing days even if you're only writing what you really want to write ;op ). Apart from contributing to me feeling much better about myself and finding more peace of mind, this approach also more than doubled my output and my confidence and still teaches me tons of things as even when just writing for myself I keep an eye on improving and learning.

My tally for day 2: 1k, with about 800 for the NP.

Apr 3: Decided to change the lead-in for my story. Unfortunately, that necessitated throwing out nearly 100% of the words already written. Upside, however, is that I can now imagine a satisfactory ending for the story -- a MUCH more important consideration than keeping previously written words! And I'm happy to say the new words are coming quickly so far -- all the thinking I did about the previous version of the story is speeding along the rewrite. Fingers crossed that this continues!

Day 3: 609 words for me on one WIP, and 104 on the other, plus some comment replies!

At the moment I'm trying to finish a set of small owl designs. I'm on the last one now, a tiny barn owl. When they're all finished (there are 12 altogether) I'm hoping to post pics at my crafting community. I love owls, but these have been a bit of a menace to stitch. I just want to complete them all, lol!

They're my favourite birds.

they're my steampunk 'airship's mascot as the group is in Athens and Athena's pet was an owl. (crows and cardinals are my favorites)

Maybe I should have said owls are my favourite birds of prey, because I also love crows, there are a lot around here, and we have some brilliant Jackdaws too. I'd never seen any of those until last spring.

ah jackdaws. When I was in Wales those feathery brats kept waking me up. Thought process: Hmmmm wonder if you can eat a jackdaw. We about to find out

Nooo, don't eat the Jackdaws! LOL! I only had a pair and they were well behaved. Very smart birds.

It's the local pigeons I want to stuff and serve. I look at them and think Pigeon Pie! Trying to make sure they don't get the food I put out for the other birds is a constant battle. They're not smart, but they're persistent and will just sit by the food, blocking other birds from getting at it, until there's nothing left.

Oh definitely smart. Probably good with a little salt and pepper and a hot grill. ha. I can imagine pigeon pie too. Those birds are survivors

Pigeon Pie would be tastier I think. The pigeons here are so fat, lots of meat on them, especially the wretched wood pigeons. Greedy pigs. The most self-centred birds ever. All the others just take their share. The various tits practically queue up, taking turns to grab a suet pellet and fly away, but the pigeons won't stop until they've eaten every crumb. It's a wonder they can still fly.

We're finally getting collared doves back here. There used to be a lot, but the stupid pigeons took over. The doves are so adorable I'll forgive them anything. They're much smaller than the pigeons so they don't eat as much.

Ah I can see that. Our most common doves and pigeons are about the same size

Equal nuisances for you then. I imagine there are larger species of dove in Britain, just not where I live.
