All of mine are movie adaptations that I think made the narratives tighter and more meaningful.

I think the 2009 movie adaption of the comic Watchman was better because it tied the ending to Doctor Manhattan rather than some giant squid-like thing.

Same goes for Fight Club. Instead of blowing up a skyscraper and a museum, they directly go after credit card companies.

And finally, for The Shawshank Redemption, in Stephen King's short story, Andy Dufresne stays in the prison for another 20 years or so after he finishes the tunnel to freedom, instead of leaving right away. That never made sense to me. I suspect it was to show how change can be frightening, even if it leads to freedom, but still dumb.
