Dawn/Connor - Post Series Repercussions
“I’m so glad you tried it before I did,” Dawn said, holding back his hair.
Connor clung to the cool porcelain as if it was a lifeline. He wiped his face and staggered upright to rinse his mouth. “I’ve eaten rancid demons, never got this sick before. What possessed you to make tuna twinkie soufflé?”
“It’s all we had food wise. I googled it and found the recipe. Should have know it was toxic, huh?”
“You think.”
“Go lie down. I’ll get you some ginger ale.” Dawn slipped an arm around him. “So was that the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?”
Holtz looked at the family set around the dining room table as if sitting down to the meal that rotted before them. The stench was so bad several of his men couldn’t enter the room and even he tried not to look at the food or the faces heaving with maggots and blowflies. This tableau was for him. Crosses carved into the faces of the children and a crude rendition of his own family crest cut into the father’s chest. Angelus and Darla were sending him a message. It reminded him of the smell of his daughter as she burned.
