the weekend ARGH
Nov. 21st, 2005 05:12 pmI got nothing done. Not my exam (which I had to give today) or Nano (one week left) because of Dell. THIS is why I didn't want to buy one. I know they're shitty but that's all I could afford. Well of course my Dell doesn't work right (and if any of you techies have a clue as to WTF is happening feel free to jump in here). If the computer has been up and running for several hours it simply stops working. If I'm in a program like IE and Word Perfect they sort of work until you try to either navigate off the page in the case of IE (and you can't answer LJ responses) or you try to us the toolbar of WP and it won't work. That's when you know you're now currently screwed. The last time it happened I was using YIM and that still worked but NOTHING else on the computer did. You couldn't open any new programs nor shut down the ones that are running. You can type in WP but not save... or answer emails but not move off the page. So the first time I did this they did a little 'test' and said my hardware was fine so it was a software problem. Software won't do anything because Dell does NOT stand behind any of the software it provides. I called customer service and bitched them out. They promised tech support would help. I called and was stuck dealing wtih them for nearly 5 hours. At first the hard ware people didn't even want to do anything until I mentioned calling the customer advocates. Amazingly when you threaten, there ARE tests you can run. he tells me they'll take 45 minutes. THREE hours later I'm still doing it. And then to figure out if it's the memory cards or my software. he has me remove the memory cards and wipe them on cotton??? and reinsert them. Of course since it's an intermittent problem to begin with I have no idea if anything is now 'fixed.' Dell you suck and the customer advocate is still hearing from me. BBB is too.
Verizon is busy fucking up again. I've been on hold for 45 minutes now. Can you say I'm pissed? I think they're saying I have a credit with them but I shouldn't unless they overcharged me even more than I knew last time. (they've yet to get one bill right)
And dear students, I hope you did better on the multiple guess portion of your exams than you did on the fill in the blank. i am NOT being lenient this time like last time because the ones you missed were ridiculously easy. I must have said the word antigen a million times and if you don't know oxygen and carbon dioxide go from lungs to blood and back you don't even belong in college.
