I enjoyed it quite a lot. The stuff they cut out was stuff I didn't miss in the least. All the house elf stuff, didn't care, I was very glad they cut out most of the Quidditch World Cup because that bored me to tears in the book though they might have cut too much of it, and most of the stuff about the giants, didn't care and didn't miss it. I really liked the characterization of Mad Eye. Ron and Harry...yeah getting to be obnoxious teenagers but it worked for me better in the movie than the books (didn't care all that much for bookx 4, 5 &6 to be honest).

About the only thing I didn't like was more cinematography than anything else. The maze and the graveyard were too dark. Yes they were supposed to be dark and creepy but we crossed over to WTH was that. I can't see.

I'll second that, Quiditch isn't that interesting, once you've seen it on the big screen, *shrugs*, so the actual festivties part was more enjoyable to see, but it was a bit jarring when it suddenly cut.

I loved the cinematography though, it really reminds me of the stuff the BBC used to put on for kids when I was a kid, really creepy dark stuff.

Yeah to have that much cut was a bit jarring but I guess unless we wanted another 3 1/2 hour movie it had to go and really, it's a bit of a shrug. I liked seeing it on screen. In print it's even more tedious

Hmmm I'd probably like to see those BBC productions. I liked the cinematography. I just wanted a little more light (or maybe I'm just going blinder)

The beginning of the movie felt horribly rushed. I'm going back next weekend and see if it seems less so the second time around.

I saw the first two, this was the fourth? It was very dark. I had a hard time making stuff out. That's one of the reasons I never liked the Batman movies. Too dark!

But overall, I liked it. I can see why it pulled a PG-13 this time around though.

yeah it did seem rushed but probably picking thru that deadly dull beginning of the book didn't leave much. They could have spent a few more minutes setting up the importance of Krum

I'm glad you liked it :) and the maze and graveyard were rather dark, but I didn't find them to be too much so. I guess it was sort of what I expected.

As I told Ez, it's entirely possible it's my eyes. I don't see oh so well but I liked it. On further reflection I adored the intro scene for the schools (though weren't the Hogwart's students a bit lax? Hell they didn't even appear to know about the tournament and the other schools had half time routinues down) I want that acrobatic flame throwing young man

yep the fourth. I could just smack some of the parents whining about the darkness. LOOK at the ratings you morons.

As for the darkness everything I like is dark li ke that, Buffy, Angel, X-Men, Batman...etc etc

LOL, the Durmstrang boys weren't half bad...Krum was supposed to not be so good looking as far as I remember but I guess they decided not to do that for the film!

And the Hogwart's students didn't know about the tournament because they were keeping it as a surprise for them, they knew something was up but no one told them anything (except for Draco I believe, his father had heard about it in the Ministry of Magic and told him about it).

I thought Krum was supposed to be ultra goodlooking or maybe I just assumed that from his celebrity. Ah well, I still want at Durmstrang boy.

Yeah I thought so but you'd think they wouldn't want it to be a secret so the studentscould go all school pride.

See, I always thought Angel was darker than Buffy. Its a visual thing. If that makes any sense.

Oh no argument, Angel was definitely darker in both lighting and mood than Buffy (until S 6-7 of the latter)

That's where I stick the Batman movies, and the latest and greatest HP.

Funny! I had to remember what the heck we were talking about! I can't wait for this email thing to be sorted out.

oh no kidding. I had 50 of the things in my inbox this morning.

I haven't see the newest Batman yet. Batman Returns, right?

X-Files did have its moments.

Guess it just depends on what kind of mood you're in.

Batman Begins with Christian Bale. Outside of Liam Neeson mumbling his lines in the beginning I thought it was the best of the bunch

I might need to try that one out. I haven't been crazy about any of them in all honesty. The 'dark-thing'.

It's still dark. We ARE talking nocturnal beings here. That does limit the footcandles they can use but sometimes it's too much, looking at one of my favorite films here, Seven
