After the build up of issue 57, I found this one to be a dreadful let down. Since I'm Dr Bullet-things now for my students who don't want to think, i'll just do the same here. My thoughts...
1. Roy being in the military BEFORE being a state alchemist was a surprise and not a good one. I didn't like that twist one bit

2. Mr Hawkeye (who needs a name damn it) is a creepy sot. I want, just once, for someone to see the military as needed and not evil...okay I guess that would be young ROY who does. Head desk.

3. What a great teacher Hawkeye is. He withholds information Roy needs to complete his training, all but taunts him with it (nice teacher) even though he seems to know he's sick and dying.

4. Do we think Riza a) knows alchemy a little b) that DADDY tattooed her?

5. If Daddy did it, how screwed up is this young lady in the head? I mean that HAS to mess with you. Not to mention they're dirt poor and Daddy GIVES her away to his apprentice like she's a piece of silverware

6. Speaking of Riza, she's a) sort of slobby about unpacking (hey I can related) b) at least observant and complex

7. So everyone but Ed knows Ed loves Winry

8. Riza can only give her perspective about the war in Ishbal...so why do we get SCAR'S perspective.

9. Scar disgusts me with his close-mindedness. I DO like his brother however.

10. I like the Rockbells. Curse her for not naming Winry's father. So why do we GET them. Does Riza actually know something or is this just a strange seque

11. Am I the only one hoping for mor Kimbley next time?

12. we desperately need MORE of Roy/Riza's history now.

13. So Ishbalans used to live in Amestris and serve in the army before getting rounded up. Reminds me of the Japanese concentration camps here in the USA in WWII.

ETA - 14. Riza lives in a creepy assed barracks with drunken sailors? Oh thank you for that one Hiromu!

I want:

1) More of Roy/Riza's history

2) MAES!!!! If we're gonna do a flashback. I mean, if we can see the Silver Alchemist, why not someone we actually like?

3) The Rockbells. They're COOL. Like 'em bunches.

4) You always want more Kimbley.

5) I thought Ishbal wasn't a part of Amestris until I read that in the manga. *headcock* Retconning?

I like to think that apartment is just her cover and she stays at Roy's most nights. True but she's living on her own on a LT's salary which is small so it's appropriate but if you look close at Shades of Grey, i deal with those different expense accounts.

In re: # 10 - The Ishbalans who found Ed in the desert told him that the one who killed the Rockbells was one of their own with a scar across his face.
