Fic proposition, brother stuff and randomness

fic proposition. I need to get back to writing original fic on a more regular basis. Who wants to join me in this? libraryofwinds has a weekly fic prompt and allows for original fic. (though in many ways I'm leery to post that because of publications hangs ups down the road. Well if it's just snippets) Anyhow, I was wondering, since a lot of us join these communities and still don't write, if we wanted to challenge each other to at least write 100 words of new fic a week. If so, let me know.

My brother got freaked by a psychic today (he's like me, open to this stuff). First thing she tells him is that he has a spirit animal she's NEVER seen before, a opposum. Well my brother had been feeding (don't ask) Ralphie, the opposum for about a year now and when Ralphie got splattered two weeks ago John, buried him. Guess he's stuck with an opposum spirit guide now. So that got his attention and made him consider she wasn't a fraud.

She went on to tell him that she sees him laying on hands as part of his job and asks if he's a physical therapist (which he'll be in about 6 months) then proceeds to say that she saw this was his second job and she was glad he quit the last job where she saw a blue uniform, wings, leaking hydralic fluid and a fiery crash (John was a pilot who ended up out of work after 9/11)

There were other things that were hits (less interesting that those two) but he's all excited about it. he wants to take my picture next time but doesn't have one (which is why he called)

are you rolling your eyes right now, seeing me answer this? LOL. You know what i'm like when it comes to writing lately. But I read this a few times and thought about it, and I think I can do 100 words a week. But do you mean in an ongoing story, or just 100 words of original fic that is not connected? Cos, you know what? If i pushed myself, and stopped being so lazy, and actually wrote down what was in my head, I figure I coudl do it.

and the bit about your brother - how cool! I've been to a few "psychics" over the years, and still hadn't met one who impressed me. Until I found one in a shopping centre, as part of Psychics Week (!), who told me about a supposed past life. I've had a few tell me about that, but what she said hit so close to home, that it kinda shook me up.

I'm thinking original fic, not necessarily interconnecting scenes because not all prompts lend themselves to that but with the thought that eventually it'll be woven into one story.

I'll join you! I'm currently writing 100 words of original fic a day (my NaDraWriMo thingee), and it's really a challenge I don't think I'll be able to keep up with once the month is over. I'd like to have a new way to keep motivated, and 100 words a week sounds good.

don't know yet. mzzgoddessblue just made me a mod at the old nano com we had. Maybe we'll use that since we can keep it locked and we can all help out with prompts. I'll let you know more when I think this out (not tonight. There's tequila in my brain)

The 100 words a week sounds like a great idea. I wouldn't be joining right off, since I just finished the first chapter of the novel featuring the gay Meiji-era detective team and I'm doing like 1,000 words of original fic every few days right now, but if the idea gets off the ground and established I'll definitely be interested later on. Prompts are a big help during creative dry periods, if you don't mind my contributing uninspired desperation-drivel on occasion.
