But only temporarily. I'm going to KY for the weekend with [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn and [personal profile] evil_little_dog. I see distillery tours in my future.

I got home without incident, barring the temptation to throttle both my father and the post awful who forwarded a letter specifically sent to PA by a student even after I told them to expect it and then on THIS end did not keep the packages at the PO like they're supposed to. No, they crammed them in and my 13 year old neighbor boy had to shut up the gaping door on the box.

Speaking of the neighbor boys they did a good job watering. Some things are a little burnt but not too bad. They got their $$ for helping. And please goddess help me, I have no less than two dozen ripe tomatos. What am I going to do wiht that? I did have fresh caprese with those tomatos and my basil though for lunch. And bless them, the black pearl peppers almsot tripled their growth in that week and a half I was gone and turned BLACK. I have lovely black plants on my porch now. Looks like Morticia lives here.

It was a weird last few days in PA. There were three very serious accidents near my home in two days, which is surprising since I live in the middle of nowhere. One was a head on with two boys on ATV's leading to one nearly amputated leg and lifeflighting. One was very near my brother's place of employment (he ended up sent home since the power was gone for a day) when a lady slammed a utility pole and was lifeflighted. Lastly was the granddaughter of a friend of the family. Not sure what happened but looks like an otherwise intelligent 18 y.o. girl who just earned a full ride to college was not only talking on the cell phone but was not strapped into her jeep and lost it on the windy roads. She was lifeflighted as well after being found lying in the road (the jeep was rather undamaged when it was found) and died.

in less depressing news, I'm finally getting a proper office at the school and I'm actually in the math sciene building! Okay I have to share it with the solar panel operating system but hey I'm out of the storage closet (literally)

And in doing my original fiction prompts for [livejournal.com profile] nanomowhinging I've written 10,000 words plus in three months. This doesn't count what I've done in that time at the prompt community [livejournal.com profile] libraryofwinds. This is a good thing. Okay, it's nothing like my 50,000 words for Nano but it's something. I'm actually thinking of original fic as much if not more than fanfic.

now to get out there and finish unpacking the car...nah, go to the pharmacy and get my meds, hit the library and then unpack once it cools off.

I have a recipe for freezer pasta sauce somewhere if you want to try it. (Basically, it's pasta sauce that you store in the freezer, go figure.)

I'd say bring the 'matoes with you, but...I'd just eat them.

Oh, the yellow tomatoes that I insisted we plant, because, well, YELLOW, are now everyone's favorite because they're sweeter and milder than the regular reds, even the Romas. Mmmm, yellow.

Freezer Tomato Sauce

20 Med/Large tomatoes (8 lbs)
4 large carrots
4 large onions
1/2 cup parsley
3 tbsp Sugar
3/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp salt

Do not peel tomatoes
Do not add watter
*Thyme, oregano or other spices can be added to taste
(I also add: celery, crushed garlic cloves and green peppers)

Cut veggies in pieces and bring to a boil. Add spices & simmer 30 min. *Stir to prevent scorching.

Cool slightly. Blend 3 cups at a time, pour into containers and freeze.

Yields: Approx. 16 cups.

*Note*: Freeze in medium sized Ziploc bags - 3 cups in each bag.
Take out air and seal.
Freeze flat.

(The supplier of the recipe also wrote: When cooking spaghetti sauce I like to add Hunt's Thick & rich original style pasta sacue (680 ml). Which to me kind of defeats the purpose of making your own, but whatever, heh.)

Have fun! And congrats on the new office!
I tried to grow veggies in our garden on several occasions, but the dog, bless him, always got to them somehow.

What kind of a dog likes salad in his diet? He was such a confused fellah'.
