So the parents are coming. BOTH of them. That means massive clean up is underway. During this I ended up doing something with the tomatoes (Not soon enough for some of them, pouts, they rotted). I made another batch of gazpacho and then blanched another two quarts of them.

Then I went out to pick some more. Anyone ever have problems with something that bores into the fruit itself. The black tomatoes are being bored as are the striped ones. The best boys and yellows are being left alone but the other two are getting infested and rotting on the vine. If anyone has a suggestion I'd be grateful.

Problems aside I bring in another two dozen tomatoes and get them under water. it's so damn hot outside that the cool water split their skins as if i had blanched them. Argh. Must use those ones up tonight. I guess it's more caprese for me for dinner.

I'm pretty sure there is something called tomato borers. Sounds pretty likely.

i think you're right. I've had tomato catepillers in the past but usually those leave the fruit and eat the leaves. This time it's the other way around. Sigh.
