Have we gone nuts in the last two days? Yesterday just twenty miles or so from here a man walks into a 5th grade classroom and knifes his estranged wife to death. I got that alert at school because i have students who have kids in that grade school and had to send them home.

Today in another school in LA a girl shots two and herself.

And in a suburb of St Louis a disgruntled man goes into the city hall and kills six and himself.


wow. And still oddly enough I'm not sure the world is really any more violent than it ever has been. We just KNOW about it instantly.

No kidding. One of the people on my flist, luco_millian is at her school right now in LOCKDOWN because students and teachers saw a guy in a camo jacket carrying what looked like a rifle. It just seems to be one of those weeks huh?

I read a food blog written by a person who lives in that St. Louis suburb. She was saying that it was basically such a small town that it seemed like that kind of violence could never happen there.

The world has gone to hell. Just today in our area a teacher's aid was arrested for having sexual contact with a special needs student. WTF?!?! The husband turned her in saying (and I qoute) :"I hope she rots!" I don't blame him.

Yah, I don't think we as a species are any more or less murderous than ever. I think it's just that we know about everything that happens intantly now, so it seems that way.

We had a MASSIVE drug bust at school, rampant student attitude, skipping, and other assorted bullshit.

I'd heard the Kirkwood man was killed by police officers, but that was this morning. They may have more facts about the story now. I couldn't stomach more than a quick read of it.

We haven't really evolved much past clubbing each other over the head; the "clubs" we use just make a bigger boom nowadays.

Back about 10-15 years ago, there was a guy where I live who was watching the TV broadcast of the city council meeting. Suffering from some mental problems, he for some reason decided he need to take his own action. He got his gun and drove down to city hall with bad intentions.

Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for everyone else, there was one thing he didn't count on. The TV broadcast wasn't live and no one was there. He ended up getting caught and put in a pysch ward for awhile.

oh dear. well going back about that long too, well before Columbine and the era of lockdowns, someone in my brother's senior class did go to school with a gun because his girl dumped him before the prom. Luckily he ended up apprehended before anyone was hurt
