since some of you asked for this here's my review of one of my favorite CLAMP offerings Legal Drug

and this is the computer I'm thinking of getting. One techie friend says get a lap top the other says no. I'm thinking while a lap top would be nice, they're more fragile, I don't carry anything to and from work other than a flash drive, the smart rooms have their own computer, i wouldn't take it to a coffee house and computers are the things I want away from on vacation so I'm not sure i need a lap top which would require all the peripherals in the world since i can't use the mouse, keyboard or squint at the smaller screen.

That comes with the monitor for eight hundred bucks? Wow, that sounds like a helluva deal. And the one thing a desk top has that a lap top doesn't is, to quote Tim the Tool Man Taylor, MORE POWER!

Laptops are nice to have as a second/travel computer, but I always want (and really need) a desktop model. They just seem better suited for everything and are much more upgradeable/rebuildable. The one you're looking at looks okay - as long as it will meet your needs and allows space to add memory et al, I say go for it. I still think you'd do better with a homemade model though.

Okay, wow, that's one neat computer system. And yeah, personally I'd always recommend a desktop rather than a laptop, especially if you don't actually need to take the computer anywhere with you.

Hey, if you're getting a discount, even better! That really does look like a good model. I just have a new found fondness for frankenmachines :)
