Avast ye maties, tis a wedding I spy
Jul. 26th, 2008 06:54 pmToday was the pirate wedding. The niece of my secretary was getting married (both husband and wife will be students of mine) and I’ve known them for a while now. They’re really nice and the family has more or less adopted me (yeah who knows why). So naturally I had to dress up like a pirate. Cosplay at a wedding? Oh like I could possibly resist. What made this even more fun, the mother of the bride is very good friends with three Amish families who were also invited.
The Amish and the Pirates, if I wrote this into a story who would believe it? It was unfortunately ungodly hot and naturally I’m unable to just sit still. No, I always have to be busy. Before I knew it, I’d talked my way into cutting and serving the cake, proving there are reasons I’m not a caterer.
The bride and groom were naturally dressed to the nines as pirates as were the father and mother of the bride, not to mention the bride’s step mom and sisters. It was such fun. Yes I have plenty of photos. I’ll share one or two and none that might have accidentally caught the Amish in it.
The ceremony was performed by a young Quaker friend of the family and was short and sweet. Then I was back handing out cake and punch at rapid-fire pace. Eventually I got to talking to the Quaker and three hours later I’m still talking to him. Gah, it’s like why can’t I find someone so knowledgeable and fun to talk to who isn’t half my age and actually not dating someone? He looked a whole lot like
adelaidedreams, reminded me of him very much in many ways. It was a whole lot of fun even if I was ridiculously sweaty and people hugged me.
